Thai Phu 2 ferry terminal, Hong Phong commune (Vu Thu) is a passenger terminal across the Red River that daily carries a large number of people and vehicles through the two provinces of Nam Dinh - Thai Binh . Thanks to good security and order assurance, over the years, Thai Phu 2 ferry terminal has continuously consolidated and expanded many self-managed security and order models built by the Waterway Police Team on the route such as "Safe passenger terminal across the river", "Peaceful fishing village"...

Despite the small force and limited means, the Waterway Police Team regularly and continuously maintains patrols, controls and manages the area, coordinates with professional units to grasp the situation of activities on rivers, key areas of all kinds of crimes. Timely combats and arrests many cases of theft of people's property and acts of smuggling, commercial fraud, trading, transporting goods without invoices, documents...

Captain Dinh Van Rien, ship NB.6574, Vissai Ninh Binh Joint Stock Company said: When transporting goods on the Red River through Thai Binh province, we are always checked, urged and reminded by the Waterway Police Team to comply with the provisions of the law on transporting goods, ensuring safe waterlines, safety equipment, complete documents related to the captain, chief engineer and crew, not using alcoholic beverages while participating in traffic... Violations are always strictly handled by the authorities in coordination with the managing unit, so everyone on board voluntarily and strictly complies.

The Red River runs through 29 communes and towns in 4 districts of Hung Ha, Vu Thu, Kien Xuong, Tien Hai with a length of 101km, 25 passenger wharves across the river, 54 business wharves. With thousands of boats and passengers traveling every day, along with some subjects taking advantage of the special terrain of the river to commit illegal acts, the awareness of vehicle owners and traffic participants is still limited, greatly affecting the assurance of order and safety of inland waterway traffic for vehicles and people traveling on the river.

Captain Quach Van Linh, Deputy Captain of the Waterway Police Team, Traffic Police Department, Provincial Police said: The unit has proactively advised the leaders of the Provincial Police to implement many professional measures, firmly grasp the situation of traffic order and safety, social order on the routes. Timely detect complicated problems, potential risks leading to traffic accidents, strengthen patrolling, control, and strictly handle violations. Along with that, thanks to focusing on propaganda and legal education , effectively maintaining the movement "All people protect national security", the awareness of water transport business owners, boat owners, wharf owners, yards and people participating in traffic has changed positively, waterway traffic order and safety is ensured stably and smoothly. In 2022, the Waterway Police Team has developed 3 peak plans, organized patrols, controls, detected and handled 188 violations with a fine of nearly 900 million VND, reminded and warned hundreds of vehicles that had not yet been handled. Detected and handled 2 cases of illegal sand mining with 2 subjects, fined 112 million VND, basically resolved illegal sand mining activities in a number of communes in Vu Thu and Hung Ha districts, preventing illegal sand mining on rivers from recurring in a complicated manner. Received and handled many sources of information on security and order, traffic safety, and mobilized people to hand over 1.4 kg of illegal fireworks. Along with that, the unit has actively carried out the work of preventing, investigating and resolving traffic accidents; ensuring social order on the route; doing well in Party building, force building, logistics... Thereby constantly improving the quality of all aspects of work, contributing to the force to successfully complete assigned tasks. In 2022, along with the titles "Victory Unit", "Typical Advanced People's Police", many collectives and individuals of the Waterway Police Team were awarded many emulation titles at all levels.
