Witnessing the victory of the Vietnamese team, the Malaysian newspaper Makan Bola headlined: “The Vietnamese team must rely on an own goal to beat Nepal”. In it, the Malaysian newspaper emphasized: “The Vietnamese team must win to put pressure on Malaysia.
However, they played unconvincingly. The only goal of the Vietnamese team came from an own goal by Suman Shrestha. The defender of Odi SC was unlucky in this situation.
The Vietnamese team really wanted to score more goals. Strikers like Tien Linh, Nguyen Van Vi and Thanh Nhan all had chances to try their hand but could not beat goalkeeper Chemjong. In the second half, coach Kim Sang Sik made some adjustments but still could not help the Vietnamese team score.
Bola.Okezone (Indonesia) also shares the same opinion: "The Vietnamese team only won with difficulty against the opponent ranked 176th in the world . This is clearly an unconvincing result."
Another Indonesian newspaper, Tribunnews, emphasized: “While Malaysia won a resounding 5-1 victory over Laos, Vietnam was only saved by an own goal in their 1-0 victory over Nepal. The race for a ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup between Vietnam and Malaysia is tense.”
Ball Thai commented: “Coach Kim Sang Sik was still satisfied despite the fact that the Vietnamese team only won 1-0 against Nepal. He said that the rain had hindered the Vietnamese team from playing. The most important thing for the “Golden Dragons” at this time is to win.”

Siam Sport (Thailand) wrote: “The Vietnamese team was only lucky to have a narrow victory thanks to Suman Shrestha’s own goal. They struggled to catch up with Malaysia on the rankings of Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers with 3 points less.”
In November, the Vietnamese team will face Laos in Vientiane in the next round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. Meanwhile, Malaysia will clash with Nepal.
