At 4:00 p.m. on September 27, the eye of the storm was at about 15.4 degrees north latitude; 113 degrees east longitude, about 170 km east-southeast of Hoang Sa special zone. The strongest wind near the eye of the storm was level 12 (118 - 133 km/h), gusting to level 15. The storm was moving west-northwest at a very fast speed, about 30-35 km/h.
In the next 24 hours, the storm is forecast to maintain its strong intensity and continue moving rapidly. By 4 p.m. on September 28, the storm will be located at 16.3 degrees north latitude; 108 degrees east longitude, in the sea area of provinces from Quang Nam to Binh Dinh, with its intensity weakening to level 11, gusting to level 13.
At 4:00 p.m. on September 29, the storm continued to move northwest and weakened into a tropical depression, located over the mainland of central Laos, with an intensity of only level 7-8, gusting to level 10.
Due to the storm's influence, the sea off the coast of Quang Ngai province and the central and northern East Sea will have strong winds of level 8-9, gusting to level 10-11 from the night of September 27. Waves here will be 3-5m high, causing very rough seas.
The coastal areas from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai are at risk of sea level rise of 0.5 - 1m, causing landslides of dikes, sea embankments and destroying aquaculture areas. The disaster risk level for the central and northern areas of the East Sea (including Hoang Sa special zone) and the coastal areas from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai are all level 3.
On the mainland of Quang Ngai province, from tonight (September 27), the communes and wards in the plains and coastal areas will have winds gradually increasing to level 4 - 5, gusting to level 6 - 7, especially in the northern communes and wards of the province.
The storm will also cause localized heavy rain from now (September 27) to the night of September 28, 2025. The delta and coastal areas are likely to have rainfall of 50 - 100mm, with some places experiencing over 150mm, while mountainous areas may experience over 120mm.
People need to be on guard against the risk of landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying, urban areas due to heavy rain.
