Stories about celebrity morning routines are often unrealistic, experts say. Instead, there are natural ways to do it that are comfortable and effective.
Bella Hadid has shared her morning routine of drinking green juices and other "detox" drinks. Many celebrities pride themselves on their elaborate morning "rituals."
Another example is Jennifer Aniston's morning routine, which includes waking up at 4:30 a.m., drinking a cup of hot water with lemon, skin care, meditation, smoothies, and exercise.
"The morning routines of celebrities are often unrealistic for most women, and not necessary for health," Laura Ligos, a nutritionist, told CBS News . "If it works for you, that's great, but most people don't need to do it to start their day. Also, very few celebrities talk about real breakfasts."
Here are four easy morning habits that experts recommend you practice.
Get into the habit of staying away from your cell phone.
Ligos says taking a break from your phone in the morning is a simple way to start your day refreshed.
James Clear, author of Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones , told CBS News that this can help you stop using your phone as an alarm.
“You wake up, turn off the alarm, and then instead of getting out of bed, you lie there and start scrolling through your phone, as if you didn’t really want to get up. And before you know it, five minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes have gone by,” he said. “I think the solution is to charge your phone in another room instead of leaving it next to you.”
Drinking water
Experts recommend that you hydrate your body when you wake up. Ligos also recommends drinking a glass of water before your morning coffee or tea.
Take time for yourself
Amanda Holtzer, a New Jersey-based nutritionist, says taking time for yourself should be individualized depending on your goals.
“Take some time to think about what you want to build into your morning routine. Ask yourself: How much time do I have in the morning to dedicate to myself? What do I absolutely need to do every morning?” she says.
Focusing on fitness? Schedule in a short workout. Looking to de-stress? Incorporate meditation, Holtzer suggests.
James Clear says that doing simple, easy tasks, like making your bed, can also set the tone for the rest of the day. This gets the “positive flow” going, allowing you to tackle the more difficult tasks ahead.
Provide energy for the body
Ligos and Holtzer say a healthy, filling, protein-rich breakfast is another important step to fueling you for the rest of the day.
"Take medication or supplements if you need to," Ligos adds. "But don't do it just because a celebrity or influencer says so."
Perfection does not exist
Also, remember, perfection doesn't exist. While it's good to be curious about the lives and habits of your favorite celebrities, be realistic. What works for them may not work for you. That's okay.
Don’t compare yourself to anyone else and don’t force yourself to do something you can’t. Do your best within your abilities, not perfection. There’s no one-size-fits-all formula. You can tweak your morning routine to suit you.
“You don’t have to follow every step to have a healthy and positive day. It’s okay if some days you skip exercise or forget to meditate. Perfection doesn’t exist, and a ‘perfect’ morning routine isn’t the goal you need,” says Holtzer.
