On June 29, Thu Duc City Police (HCMC) initiated a case, prosecuted and detained Nguyen Thanh Duc (born in 1983), Nguyen Thi Thu Van (born in 1989, Duc's wife, both residing in Khanh Hoa province) for the crime of "Torturing others".

Previously, on the morning of June 24, Ms. H. (born in 2002, residing in Phu Yen province) went to Tam Phu Ward Police Station (Thu Duc City) to report that she had been tortured and beaten by Duc and Van for many days.

Ms. H. said that her relatives sent her to Ho Chi Minh City to stay at Duc and Van's house in alley 40, Tam Binh street (Tam Phu ward) to learn a trade. During her stay, Ms. H. was beaten, abused and not allowed to leave the house by Duc and Van.

On June 16, Ms. H. took advantage of the moment when Duc and Van were not paying attention to escape and asked people for money to take a bus to Phu Yen province. Here, Ms. H. was taken to Phu Yen Provincial Hospital for treatment by relatives. After being treated stably, she went to the police to report.

Through investigation, the police brought Duc and Van couple in for questioning and both admitted their actions. Initially, the cause was due to personal conflicts between Duc and Van couple and Ms. H.
