On the afternoon of August 25, the Border Guard Party Committee of Son La province held a conference to review 5 years of implementation of Resolution No. 669-NQ/DU dated September 4, 2018 of the Border Guard Party Committee on leadership to improve the quality and effectiveness of the fight against drugs and crimes; building a strong and comprehensive specialized force for drug and crime prevention and control in the new situation.
The report at the conference emphasized that in recent times, the Son La Provincial Border Guard Party Committee has promoted collective leadership in conjunction with assigning individual tasks to the head and deputy head; assigning targets on basic skills, professional skills, and the fight against all types of crimes; including the results of the fight against drug crimes and other types of crimes as one of the criteria for evaluating the task completion results of the Party Committee, commanders, and individual officers and soldiers according to their assigned responsibilities.
In addition, priority is given to arranging officers with good expertise, health, courage, and high responsibility for the specialized force in drug and crime prevention and control of units in the provincial Border Guard, especially at border posts.

Over the past 5 years, the quality and effectiveness of the fight against drugs and crime have been significantly improved by the Son La Provincial Border Guard. Accordingly, it has chaired and coordinated with the Drug and Crime Prevention Department (Border Guard Command), Son La Provincial Police, and Customs to fight against crime and drugs on the border and border gates of Son La province.
From September 2018 to now, the Son La Provincial Border Guard has established 43 projects, successfully fought 41 projects; presided over and coordinated with functional forces to arrest 637 cases/781 subjects, seized 100.91 kg of heroin, 124.23 kg of synthetic drugs, 33.31 kg of opium resin, 14 kg of crystal meth, 2.4 kg of opium seeds, 3 grenades, 34 guns, 323 bullets and many other exhibits.
In the border area, every year, units of the Son La Provincial Border Guard organize propaganda and mobilize more than 3,000 households to sign a pact not to grow plants containing narcotics and not to assist subjects in illegally buying, selling, and transporting drugs in the border area; and to practice autonomy and self-management of security and order.

Speaking at the conference, Colonel Ca Van Lap, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Son La Border Guard requested agencies and units to continue to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement Resolution No. 669-NQ/DU of the Border Guard Party Committee; proactively grasp the situation and coordinate with relevant forces in preventing and combating all types of crimes in the border area; continue to advise and propose building a team of officers in charge of preventing and combating drugs and crimes with steadfast political will, sharpness, dynamism, professional proficiency, and a firm grasp of legal knowledge...
On this occasion, the Party Committee and the Border Guard Command of Son La province awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 collectives and 5 individuals for their outstanding achievements in 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 669-NQ/DU of the Border Guard Party Committee.
