Due to the impact of floods in late July and early August, Pe Tien suspension bridge in Chieng So commune, Son La province was damaged, causing the only traffic route for people and students to cross both sides of the river to be broken.

In difficult traffic conditions, to support people and students in flooded areas to cross the river, for many days now, the Military Command of Son La province has mobilized forces and deployed free boat trips to take people and students across the river. Despite the difficulties caused by harsh weather conditions, officers and soldiers have supported hundreds of people and students to cross the river safely.

Officers and soldiers of the Son La Provincial Military Command are regularly on duty to provide free boats to take people and students across the river before building a temporary bridge.  

Lieutenant Va Ba Tua, Propaganda Assistant, Defense Command of Region 2 - Song Ma, Son La Provincial Military Command said: "Under the direct direction of the Son La Provincial Military Command, the Defense Command of Region 2 - Song Ma has arranged rescue boats (light river crossing kit VSN-1500), coordinating with local forces to transport people and students across the river in the most convenient way."

Understanding the difficulties of the people, the Military Command of Son La province has supported funding to build a temporary pontoon bridge across the river, with the hope that the bridge will better serve the travel needs of the people, facilitate trade and commerce, and improve the local economic life.

Mr. Lo Van Tien, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Pe Tien village, Chieng So commune, Son La province shared: “Since the suspension bridge of Pe Tien village was broken due to floods, the Military Command of Son La province has arranged motorboats to create conditions for people to travel and for children to go to school, as well as support funds and human resources to build temporary pontoon bridges for people to travel and for children to go to school very conveniently. On behalf of the leadership of Pe Tien village, Chieng So commune, I sincerely thank the Military Command of Son La province”.

Excitedly sharing with us, Mr. Lo Van Tien, a resident of Pe Tien village, Chieng So commune, Son La province, said: “Before building this pontoon bridge, it was very difficult for us to travel between the two sides of the river, we had to take a long detour. Today, with the support of the Party, the State, the Government and the army to build this bridge, we are very excited, from now on it will be much easier to cross the river. Our children and grandchildren will also have an easier time going to school. Thank you very much to the Party, the Government and the army.”

The completion of the bridge is a practical and meaningful activity that helps people here travel conveniently, enhances the solidarity between the army and people and the beautiful image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the hearts of the people.
