Patient 'cries for help' because vision is only 2/10 after nearsightedness surgery

On November 12, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that they had received a complaint from a relative of a VLTH patient about the treatment process at Saigon Eye Hospital II. After receiving the complaint, the Department of Health inspector sent a notice to the director of Saigon Eye Hospital II for consideration and resolution according to regulations. At the same time, the Department of Health Inspector went to Saigon Eye Hospital II to work on issues related to the treatment process for the VLTH patient.

According to a report from Saigon Eye Hospital II, patient VLTH was admitted on April 10 with a diagnosis of nearsightedness and astigmatism in both eyes. After examination, the patient was prescribed Femto Lasik surgery for both eyes.

Femto Lasik is a laser method to treat myopia.

On April 11, the patient was discharged from the hospital with visual acuity in both eyes reaching 9/10. However, on April 21, the patient returned for a check-up and was diagnosed with vision in the right eye reduced to 2/10.

Saigon Eye Hospital II coordinated with the patient to visit other medical facilities to determine the cause. The examination results at Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital and Singapore National Ophthalmology Center both showed that the patient's right eye vision ranged from 2/10 to 4/10, and the left eye was 10/10.

Saigon Eye Hospital II has established a professional council to evaluate the treatment of the patient. The council's conclusion shows that the steps of examination and preparation of the patient before and during surgery are in accordance with the procedure.

Saigon Eye Hospital II has issued a document reporting the settlement of the petition. The hospital said it has sent a response letter to the petition of the patient's relatives.

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health is continuing to consider and resolve the patient's application according to regulations.
