Previously, patient V. was admitted to the hospital with pain and limited knee mobility. Examination and imaging results showed stage 2 knee osteoarthritis, with cartilage and ligament damage.
Doctors performed arthroscopic debridement and cleaning of the joint, while simultaneously applying Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) - an autologous glue extracted from the patient's own blood.

From 240ml of the patient's peripheral blood, the doctor extracted 10.9ml of PRF, then injected it directly into the damaged areas during the arthroscopy of both knees.
PRF glue is made from the patient's own blood, so it is completely safe, without worrying about infection or rejection. The glue contains many factors that help speed up recovery, stimulate the creation of new blood vessels, regenerate cartilage, and form new tissue.

Fibrin in the glue acts as a natural scaffold that holds platelets and slowly releases beneficial substances. This reduces pain in the injured area, stops bleeding, and creates conditions for new cells to grow and regenerate.
Associate Professor, Dr. Vo Thanh Toan, Deputy Director of Thong Nhat Hospital, Head of the Department of Joint Trauma Surgery, said: "PRF can maintain its effect for 7-14 days after surgery, helping patients recover quickly, walk soon and reduce treatment costs."
On the third day after surgery, patient V. no longer had pain or swelling in both knees, the surgical wound was dry, and he could practice muscle contraction and knee flexion and extension normally.

According to Thong Nhat Hospital, osteoarthritis is a common chronic disease in middle-aged and elderly people, greatly affecting the patient's quality of life.
Therefore, combining endoscopic surgery with the application of autologous PRF glue has opened up a safe, minimally invasive treatment direction, increasing the ability to regenerate articular cartilage, providing a better opportunity for mobility recovery for patients.
