Despite her old age, she still maintains her job as a medical examiner three days a week at Kasamatsu Hospital in Kainan City, according to The Japan News (Japan).
The physician of many generations
Kasamatsu Hospital was founded in 1909. Since marrying her husband, orthopedist Shigeru, Ms. Kasamatsu has worked here. Together, the couple ran the hospital and raised their three children.
There were times when she had to examine more than 120 patients in one day. The hospital also had emergency rooms, so she often stayed up all night to perform surgeries.
She recalls doing everything from examining patients, dispensing medicine, keeping records, and accounting.
Dr. Kasamatsu's secret to her career is simple. She always believes that the most important thing is to listen to what her patients have to say. Thanks to her kindness and closeness, she gains the trust of her patients.
Her second son, Mr. Satoshi, now the hospital director, shared that patients trust his mother very much because she always knows how to create a comfortable atmosphere when talking.
Spinach, broccoli, cabbage... are part of Dr. Kasamatsu's diet.
Secrets to healthy living
Dr. Kasamatsu's life was filled with busyness, hardship, and health problems.

She believes that vegetables are not only nutritious but also help lower blood sugar, keeping the body balanced and healthy.
At 100, she still walks steadily without a cane. She lives alone in a house next to the hospital after her husband died in 2012 at the age of 91.

She spends one to two hours exercising her mind, seeing it as an effective way to prevent dementia.
She also nurtured a love of music . At the age of 70, she began learning piano at the suggestion of her husband.
Besides, she still maintains the habit of reading medical documents to update her professional knowledge. Continuous learning and research helps her to continue to be steadfast in her profession, becoming a great example for her children, grandchildren and colleagues.
Don't think about retirement
According to statistics from the Japanese Ministry of Health , Labor and Welfare, by the end of 2022, there were about 340,000 doctors reporting their practice status, and among them, 86 were 98 years old or older.
