Bich Tuyen unexpectedly became a caregiver at the National Volleyball Tournament

(Dan Tri) - Opposite setter Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen did not participate in the second phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship, instead she was assigned a task she had never done at the club.

This afternoon (October 6), representatives of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, the tournament organizing committee and representatives of participating teams had a technical meeting before the opening day of phase 2 of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship.

According to information from Ninh Binh Women's Club, athlete Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen officially withdrew from the competition list in the second phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship. The reason why this setter did not participate in the highest tournament of Vietnamese volleyball was due to injury.

Notably, instead of the position of assistant coach as previously reported, Bich Tuyen was registered by the club as a… caretaker. This is a job related to logistics issues in the team.

Thus, after withdrawing from the Vietnamese women's volleyball team at the 2025 World Championship, Bich Tuyen will not participate as an athlete in the national tournament. This decision is said to be because she is under a lot of pressure from the teams, the media and fans. Recently, the 25-year-old player has caused many controversies related to gender issues.

For Ninh Binh Women’s Club, the absence of Bich Tuyen will greatly affect the team’s championship goal. Previously, in the first phase, Bich Tuyen played all 5 matches, helping Ninh Binh Club to rank first in the women’s group.

By not participating in the second phase of the 2025 National Championship, Bich Tuyen may not be called up by coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet to the Vietnam women's volleyball team to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games, even though this athlete was previously on the preliminary list.

Phase 2 of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship takes place from October 7 to October 16 in Ninh Binh, including 8 men's teams: MB Border Guard, Tan Cang The Cong, Ho Chi Minh City Police, Da Nang, Tay Ninh, Hanoi, Sanest Khanh Hoa and LPBank Ninh Binh.

The 8 women's teams include: VTV Binh Dien Long An, Duc Giang Chemicals, Information Corps, Ho Chi Minh City, Hung Yen, Long Son Thanh Hoa Cement, VietinBank and LPBank Ninh Binh.

The champion team will represent Vietnam in the AVC Champions League 2026, while the bottom team will have to play in the A division next season.
