Binh Dinh proposes to handle V-League referees

In the 42nd minute of the match at Vinh Stadium on June 25, Rafaelson passed the ball with the outside of his foot to Pham Van Thanh who was running down. Goalkeeper Van Viet collided with his teammate, causing the ball to slip away, allowing Van Thanh to shoot into an empty net. However, referee Tran Dinh Thinh blew the whistle and did not recognize the goal for Binh Dinh when he saw assistant Pham Hoai Tam raise the flag to signal offside. Slow motion on television later showed that Van Thanh was not offside and did not have any impact leading to the collision between the two SLNA players. The match then ended with a score of 0-0.

After the match, assistant Bui Doan Quang Huy held a press conference in place of coach Nguyen Duc Thang. He said that Binh Dinh's coaching staff was very upset with the referee for unfairly losing a goal. "My opinion is that Van Thanh was not offside," said Mr. Huy. "The referees need to review and if there is a mistake, they need to discipline the referee."

The refereeing work of V-League 2023 still has many errors and often causes controversy. The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) have used the traditional method of hiring foreign referees, but have not been able to bring about comprehensive changes. They are hoping to use VAR in the final rounds of the second phase.

After round 12, Binh Dinh is ranked seventh with 16 points, while SLNA is ranked 10th with three points less. In round 13, Binh Dinh will welcome HAGL, a competitor for a top 8 spot.
