Ministry of Public Security arrests Director and Deputy Director of Bien Hoa Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry

Regarding the violations that occurred at the Bien Hoa Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry, on the morning of June 16, Thanh Nien reporters' sources said that the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency arrested two leaders of the Bien Hoa Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry.

The two people arrested were Dr. Le Van Hung, Director of the Institute, and Dr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Deputy Director. That same morning, the police searched the residence and workplace of the two doctors.

Also according to the source, it is expected that early next week, the Ministry of Health will send people to take over the Bien Hoa Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry.

Previously, on June 13, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency entered the Bien Hoa Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry and then arrested many doctors and nurses. In the evening of the same day, they arrested and searched the house of Dr. Bui The Hung (former Director of the Bien Hoa Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry).

The Ministry of Public Security arrested many doctors and nurses at the Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry in Bien Hoa.

In addition, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency summoned many doctors, nurses, and other related officials to assist in the investigation. Some were banned from leaving their place of residence.

According to initial information, the arrest is to investigate and clarify violations in the treatment and establishment of a mental health certificate for the patient. This is a special project established and fought by the Ministry of Public Security in recent times.

Bien Hoa Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry is located in Tan Phong Ward (Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai), under the Ministry of Health . The Institute was established on October 29, 2015 on the basis of upgrading the Southern Branch of the Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry.

The Institute has the function of conducting forensic psychiatric examinations according to the provisions of procedural law and the Law on Judicial Examination; conducting scientific research, participating in training, fostering and international cooperation in the field of forensic psychiatry; directing forensic psychiatric expertise for 3 forensic psychiatric centers in the southern region; examining and treating psychiatric patients upon request.
