The nude works of painter Do Son show a strong brushwork and strong sense of color.

Painter Do Son has returned to his solo exhibition at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum from now until October 9. This is his fifth exhibition, 17 years after his last solo exhibition, with 92 works, mainly oil paintings, of which paintings of women and nudes account for a large number.

However, according to art researcher Vu Huy Thong, this exhibition still chooses a variety of works to show the creative process of painter Do Son. "Sketches, landscapes, nudes... at the exhibition are excellent works selected from the artist's artistic heritage. In particular, the landscape paintings created after his field trips to Sapa have many imprints that form his painting language, greatly influencing the generation of painters after him," Mr. Thong shared.

According to Mr. Thong, painter Do Son had made his artistic mark very early. Right from his 4th year at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, one of his silk paintings called School Garden was collected by the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum. In 1980, Phu Quoc Sea Village won a silver medal at the National Fine Arts Exhibition. In 1984, the work Sea Flowers received a gold medal at the National Fine Arts Exhibition on the theme of armed forces. After that, these works were all collected by the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum. Painter Do Son's paintings were also purchased by foreign museums quite early. Accordingly, right from his first solo exhibition in 1992, 3 works were collected by the Singapore Fine Arts Museum.

At the age of 82, pre-renovation painter Do Son continues to create. He shared: "Recently, I still paint, with free themes. Painting is a passion, a way to practice my skills, hiring models to paint at home. Many collectors at home and abroad buy my nude paintings."

Painter Do Son is considered one of the pre-renovation painters with very important contributions to art and innovative painting. Mr. Vu Huy Thong said that Mr. Do Son's award-winning works are all works with new language, encouraging the innovative painting art that has flourished until today. Although Hoa Bien is still about the theme of revolutionary war and soldiers, it has a very different expressive language, with exploration and creativity. Many of his works are painted with strong expressive language, especially the nude paintings - a theme that has been his constant theme for many years.
