The Ministry of Industry and Trade is about to organize the Vietnam - EU Cooperation Forum 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Vietnam – EU Cooperation Forum 2024 “Adaptation efforts for a sustainable prosperous future” organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on November 7.


With the goal of maintaining a channel of interaction and practical exchange between government agencies and the business community of the two sides in policy dialogue, updating market information, supporting business and investment connections, the Department of European - American Markets (Ministry of Industry and Trade) organized the Vietnam - EU Cooperation Forum 2024: "Efforts to adapt for a sustainable prosperous future".

The program was attended by leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, representatives of the EU Delegation to Vietnam, leaders of the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham Vietnam), representatives of a number of units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, experts, businesses, local representatives...

The event is scheduled to take place on November 7, 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Vietnam – EU Cooperation Forum 2024 “Adaptation efforts for a sustainable prosperous future” organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on November 7, 2024.

According to the organizers, the event will consist of two parts: a presentation session and a panel discussion.

The discussion session included a presentation by the leader of the EuroCham Association on the following topics: Opportunities for cooperation in the field of green transformation and energy transformation in Vietnam from the perspective of European enterprises and market expectations. Next was a presentation by the Department of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade) on Vietnam's policies and orientations on sustainable production and emission reduction, the possibility of cooperation with the EU and recommendations for businesses.

Local representatives will present the orientations and priorities for attracting investment from EU partners in the fields of green economy and circular economy. Business representatives will talk about market demand in the context of green trends and sustainable development in the EU and the sourcing criteria of European businesses.

The next part is a discussion program coordinated by the European - American Market Department. The speakers are representatives of the Trade Defense Department; Representatives of the EU Delegation to Vietnam; Representatives of Vietnamese Enterprises; Representatives of EuroCham/European Enterprises; Bureau Veritas experts.

The seminar includes the following contents: Responding to challenges from non-tariff barriers and trade protectionism trends; sharing some typical cases and warnings for businesses.

EU trade defense policy, practices and implementation of measures to support businesses in prevention and response. Updates on notable policy adjustments, roadmap for implementing new EU regulations and standards on climate/environment, sustainable development such as the Border Carbon Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), Supply Chain Regulation Against Deforestation (EUDR), Supply Chain Due Diligence Directive (CS3D), Eco-Design Regulation (ESPR)... and assessment of impacts on trade and investment exchanges.

Assess the readiness and adaptability of businesses, as well as the necessary guidance and recommendations to comply with new requirements. Practice emission reduction, implement environmental and social responsibility in planning production and business development strategies and success stories.

Opportunities to attract investment, technology transfer, and capacity building support projects from EU partners to promote green and sustainable economic restructuring, including energy transition, clean energy use, and renewable energy.

According to the organizers, this event will provide multi-dimensional perspectives from experts on market prospects, the ability to deeply participate in the supply chain with EU partners, and how to respond to non-tariff barriers, trade defense, as well as guide businesses to adapt to new regulations and policies. At the same time, this is also an opportunity to suggest directions for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, in line with current trends such as green economy, circular economy, and energy transition.
