Appointment of the Board of Directors of the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control

On the afternoon of September 4, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health held a ceremony to hand over the decision to appoint the Board of Directors of the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC).

Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health and Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Nguyen Anh Dung, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, presented the appointment decision to the Director and Deputy Director of HCDC.

Accordingly, Dr. Nguyen Hong Tam was appointed as Director, along with 8 Deputy Directors including: Master - Doctor Nguyen Kieu Uyen, Dr. Nguyen Viet Dien, Master - Doctor Le Hong Nga, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Thuy Duong, Dr. Vu Xuan Dan, Dr. Ngo Hong Quang, Dr. Nguyen Van Len and Dr. Ha Van Thanh.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, emphasized that this is a special day for the Ho Chi Minh City health sector when the 3 CDCs officially merged into one. The event not only marked a turning point in organization but also opened up the opportunity to build a united, strong collective, capable of shouldering the great responsibility in preventive medicine work for the new city.

“The initial stage may still have many difficulties, but with unity and sharing, the new collective will overcome challenges and rise to meet the requirements not only of Ho Chi Minh City but also towards the regional level,” Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong hopes.

On behalf of the new Board of Directors, Dr. Nguyen Hong Tam expressed his gratitude to the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health for their trust in appointing HCDC to leadership positions. In the context of Ho Chi Minh City being oriented to develop into a megacity, an economic and financial center of the region, ensuring health security, including effective epidemic prevention, is an extremely important task to contribute to keeping the city peaceful for development. At the same time, he pledged to work with the Board of Directors to do their best to complete the assigned tasks, build HCDC into a united, democratic, strong collective and constantly improve its capacity.

HCDC was established under Decision No. 992/QD-UBND dated August 28, 2025 of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, on the basis of merging HCDC, CDC Binh Duong and CDC Ba Ria - Vung Tau. The merger aims to build a single headquarter responsible for disease control, protection and improvement of the health of the city's people.
