Vietnam's Ministry of National Defense attends Asia's largest defense exhibition

On the afternoon of February 20, information from the Ministry of National Defense said that at the invitation of the Singapore Ministry of Defense, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense delegation led by Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, attended the 9th Singapore Airshow in Singapore, taking place from February 20-25, 2024.

Singapore Airshow is Asia's largest defense exhibition held every two years.

Attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony this year were Singapore's Minister of Transport and Minister of Finance Chee Hong Tat, Singapore's Senior Minister of State for Defence Heng Chee How and representatives of the defence ministries of various countries. According to the statistics of the Organizing Committee, there were more than 900 enterprises and units from 45 countries/territories participating in the Exhibition. At the Exhibition, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence delegation attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, visited the booths and product display areas of a number of large enterprises and corporations in the world, and watched flight demonstrations performed by the Singapore Air Force, India, the US, South Korea, China, Indonesia, Australia and a number of international civil airlines. Within the framework of the Exhibition, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence delegation had meetings with a number of partners to discuss issues of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation. During the meeting with the Czech Republic's Deputy Minister of Defense, Daniel Blazkovec, Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son thanked the people of Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic) for their valuable assistance to Vietnam's struggle for national independence and nation building; expressed his joy at the outstanding results of defense cooperation between Vietnam and the Czech Republic in recent times, and wished to continue promoting cooperation in the coming time in many fields such as delegation exchanges, training, etc. At the meeting with US Air Force Assistant Secretary Andrew Hunter, the Head of the Vietnamese delegation assessed that the relationship between the two countries in recent times has continued to develop well, in line with the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace , cooperation and sustainable development. In the coming time, the two sides need to strengthen cooperation on the basis of signed documents, with priority given to promoting cooperation in training, search and rescue, military medicine, participation in the United Nations peacekeeping force, and overcoming the consequences of war in Vietnam.

Also at the bilateral meetings and contacts with countries and partners, Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son respectfully thanked the Ministries of National Defense and the Armies of the countries for sending high-ranking delegations to attend the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2022 and hoped that the Ministries of National Defense, Armies, and defense enterprises of the countries would continue to support and attend the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army./.
