Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) has just sent a document to the Vietnam Expressway Administration proposing to add electric charging stations at rest stops on expressways managed by VEC.

According to the report, VEC is being assigned by the Prime Minister to operate services along the expressway and by the Ministry of Transport to be the investor of 5 expressway projects with 9 rest stops and 3 bus stops.
Regarding the 7 rest stops currently in operation, VEC leaders said that at the time of investment in construction of these rest stops, there were no regulations requiring rest stops to have areas for installing electric charging posts and electric charging equipment.
Considering the current Circular No. 09/2024 of the Ministry of Transport, rest stops must arrange areas for installing electric charging posts and electric charging equipment, so VEC proposes to add the category of electric charging stations and auxiliary works for electric charging stations. It is expected that each rest stop will have at least 30 charging positions on each side of the station; a transformer station serving the charging station and infrastructure system.
For the 2 rest stops that have not yet been constructed, VEC proposed to update the charging station items and related works into the master plan design and total investment of the project. For the 3 rest stops, VEC proposed to update the charging station items into the design of the rest stops.
Currently, the Ministry of Transport has assigned VEC as the investor of 5 expressway projects including Noi Bai-Lao Cai, Cau Gie-Ninh Binh, Da Nang-Quang Ngai, Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay, and Ben Luc-Long Thanh./.
