As reported by Lao Cai Newspaper, due to the impact of storm No. 10 (Bualoi), the telecommunications infrastructure in Lao Cai province was severely damaged, causing disruptions in communication connections in some areas. Even while the floods were still occurring, telecommunications businesses in the area mobilized dozens of rescue teams, with many technicians to quickly fix the problems.

Although the recovery work encountered many difficulties due to the isolated area, up to now, communication connections have been ensured in 99 communes and wards across the province, most of the mobile base transceiver stations (BTS) and damaged, broken optical fiber lines have been repaired.
Specifically, as of 5:30 p.m. on October 2, VNPT only had 28 BTS stations that had not resumed operations; Viettel had 6 stations; Mobifone was also working to resolve the problem at 8 BTS stations and restore service for affected subscribers.
Telecommunications companies have also deployed roaming in areas where only one network operator has a signal, helping to ensure initial communication.
Currently, 100% of communes and wards have at least one network operator broadcasting at the center.
To stabilize the telecommunications infrastructure soon, the Department of Science and Technology of Lao Cai province is continuing to maintain a 24/24 duty regime, regularly updating the situation and coordinating with businesses to promptly handle incidents. The goal is to ensure smooth communication, effectively serving the direction and operation of Party committees, authorities and the communication needs of people in the context of complicated weather conditions.
