Located on the North-South expressway in the East, the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway starts at Van Ninh commune, Quang Ninh district (old). Before the merger of Quang Binh and Quang Tri, this was the route connecting these two localities.

The highway has a total length of about 65.5 km, a total investment of about 9,920 billion VND, and will start construction in January 2023.

Currently, along the route, hard dividers, guardrails, and signs have been installed. Items such as protective fences, line markings, drainage ditches, and leveling and slopes on both sides of the highway are being urgently completed.

Phase 1 of the project is designed with 4 lanes, no emergency lane but emergency stops are arranged every 4-5 km. The roadbed width is 17 m, design speed is 90 km/h.

In the completed phase, the highway will have 6 lanes, 2 emergency lanes, and a design speed of 100 km/h.

The contractor is speeding up the progress of the underpass and residential road system.

The main route of the 65.5 km project is being fully paved, expected to be technically open to traffic on June 30, 2025, while the overpasses will be completed on July 10, 2025.

The highway runs through An Ma Lake in Quang Binh, now the new Quang Tri - the most beautiful route on the entire Van Ninh - Cam Lo route.

Currently, some sections allow vehicles to run, but when reaching construction sites, drivers must follow instructions to avoid Ho Chi Minh road to continue traffic.

The Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway project has many sections parallel to Ho Chi Minh road.

The project also has 3 overpasses on National Highway 9, Tam Hiep and National Highway 9D under construction, expected to be completed on July 10 for technical traffic opening.

According to plan, before June 30, Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway will open to traffic, connecting with Bung - Van Ninh and Cam Lo - La Son expressways which have been put into operation.

The Van Ninh - Cam Lo Expressway is about to come into operation, creating convenient connections between Quang Binh and Quang Tri, helping to significantly shorten travel time, creating a vital traffic corridor, promoting trade, tourism and investment for the new Quang Tri province.

Bung - Van Ninh Expressway

Connecting Van Ninh - Cam Lo is the Bung - Van Ninh expressway, which started construction in January 2023 with a cost of nearly VND 9,400 billion (the photo is the intersection between these two stages. When cars pass Bung - Van Ninh, they are forced to turn to move to Highway 1).

The Bung - Van Ninh project passes through many hills and farms of the old Bo Trach district and the old Quang Ninh. The entire route has 4 intersections. The bridge system and intersections of the main Bung - Van Ninh expressway have been completed, the service roads and auxiliary works will be completed before June 30, 2025.

The highway has many parallel sections, intersecting with the Eastern branch of Ho Chi Minh road, starting point at Cu Nam commune, old Bo Trach district, ending point at Van Ninh commune, old Quang Ninh district.

The first phase of the expressway design has a scale of 4 lanes, 17 m wide road surface, the completed phase has 6 lanes, 32.25 m wide road surface.

Median strip uses fixed guardrails built on the road surface higher than 2 m.

The highway has 4 lanes with asphalt, concrete median strips, and painted lines. However, the Bung - Van Ninh route has very little traffic because the section from Van Ninh to Cam Lo is still under construction.
