Storm No. 10: National Highway 8 through Ha Tinh is congested

According to the report of the Civil Defense Command (Ministry of Construction), as of 4:00 p.m. on September 28, storm No. 10 is about to make landfall. Currently, the storm's impact has caused the National Highway 8C at km133+304 in Ha Tinh province to be flooded with an average depth of 60 cm, causing traffic jams.

Currently, the local authorities and responsible units have arranged barriers, signs, and guards at both ends to ensure traffic safety. It is expected that traffic will reopen by 7 p.m. the same day.

Besides the traffic jam in Ha Tinh province, the traffic system on national highways managed by Road Management Areas I, II, III and other Departments of Construction has not suffered major damage, traffic is smooth and safe.

The Vietnam Road Administration has arranged units to be on duty 24/24 hours; assigned specific tasks to members of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue; and is ready to deploy the developed plans. Deploy plans to ensure safe and smooth traffic; take measures to protect road works, bridges, culverts, warehouses, and vehicles; prepare to relocate equipment and assets when necessary and brace houses.

The Vietnam Road Administration continues to inspect ferry terminals, pontoon bridges, and ferry terminals; suspend illegal ferry terminal operations; and require vehicles crossing rivers to meet technical standards and life-saving and safety equipment.

Localities and units also increased inspection of areas at risk of flooding, landslides, flash floods, and landslides; proactively diverted traffic from a distance; focused on overcoming the consequences of floods. At the same time, checked materials (steel cages, boulders, crushed stone, etc.), equipment, and reserve resources; stored and distributed according to regulations and targets; ready to transfer reinforcement to high-risk areas.

Previously, the Vietnam Road Administration issued Official Dispatch No. 21/CD-CDBVN dated September 27, 2025 and directive document dated September 28, 2025.

Currently, the Vietnam Road Administration has established a forward command post for storm prevention No. 10 in the two provinces of Quang Tri and Nghe An . At the same time, working groups have been established to ensure traffic safety on important national highways; regularly inspect steep mountain passes, weak bridges, and temporary bridges; promptly handle damage caused by natural disasters and prepare traffic diversion plans when necessary.
