The mango export event is the result of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in negotiating to export green-skinned elephant mango to the Australian and US markets. The mango batch will be transported by air and Vina T&T Company is the exporter. Of which, 1 ton will be exported to Australia and 1 ton to the US.
The export of Can Tho mango batch marks the transformation of the agricultural sector in response to market demands, shifting from fragmented, spontaneous production methods to production in the direction of close linkage along the value chain with enterprises to form concentrated specialized growing areas with sufficient conditions to implement technical production processes to ensure quality, in which green-skinned elephant mango is a typical product.
According to Vice Chairman of Can Tho People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc He, the locality has a total fruit growing area of over 25,000 hectares, of which 8 types of trees have a growing area from over 1,000 to over 4,800 hectares. In recent times, Can Tho has built a key fruit growing area, focusing on and forming typical branded products. Currently, Can Tho has 193 growing area codes with a total area of 2,600 hectares, the city's high-quality products have been exported to demanding and high-value markets.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc He, Vice Chairman of Can Tho People's Committee, also frankly admitted that the lack of concentration and dispersion in production is still common, and the small scale of production makes it difficult to meet the requirements for granting growing area codes. Therefore, cooperatives need to connect with people and businesses to develop raw material areas to meet the requirements of businesses in export.
The export of mangoes to the Australian and US markets is the result of cooperatives, businesses, local authorities and fruit farmers in Can Tho city, initially opening a new direction for the mango industry, and at the same time orienting linkages for other fruit growing regions.
