Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati said that with an estimated 1 million people in just one day, the declaration of a state of emergency allows the city to implement additional plans to help cope with traffic congestion, mobile network overload, higher demand for emergency services, etc. On average, the city welcomes 14 million visitors each year.

According to the New York Post, the upcoming total solar eclipse will be visible from the Pacific coast of Mexico in the morning, then from Texas to Maine in the US, and ending in eastern Canada in the late afternoon.
