(BGDT) - Early this morning (June 12), in Quang Chau commune, Viet Yen district ( Bac Giang ), an electric discharge occurred, causing one person to be severely burned. Initial information is that the subject climbed up a pole to steal an electric cable.

Lo Van Phuong climbed up an electric pole to steal the cable but was electrocuted and severely burned.

Specifically, at about 3:55 a.m. on June 12, at the electric pole of the 22kV-482 E7.7 line in Nam Ngan village, Quang Chau commune, there was a phenomenon of "jumping" the protective device. At 6:30 a.m., local people discovered someone with burns and reported it to Viet Yen Electricity and Quang Chau Commune Police.

Police and electricity officials at the scene determined that a subject had climbed up a pole to cut the power cable. During the act, he was electrocuted and fell to the ground below.

The subject was identified as Lo Van Phuong (born in 1999) in Huoi Tao A village, Pu Nhi commune, Dien Bien Dong district (Dien Bien). Phuong is a freelance worker with no job.

When discovered, Lo Van Phuong had severe burns on his head, face, stomach... and had moved about 450 meters away from the location of the electric discharge to a temporary shelter of the people.

Quang Chau Commune Police and Viet Yen Electricity took the subject to the 110 Military Hospital (Bac Ninh) for emergency treatment and then transferred him to the National Institute of Burns ( Hanoi ).

The incident did not cause any property damage as the power cable was not cut. Viet Yen Electricity has inspected the entire line, reconnected the power and coordinated with the police to handle the matter according to the law.
