Rectifying urban order
Since the beginning of July, Nguyen Phuc Chu Street (Hoi An Ward) has no longer had the scene of shops placing tables and chairs encroaching on the road, hindering visitors from walking around every evening. Instead, everything is neatly arranged within the prescribed area, even the music from restaurants and cafes is gentle, limiting noise affecting the heritage space.
Opposite Nguyen Phuc Chu Street, on the other side of Hoai River, on Cong Nu Ngoc Hoa, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Bach Dang, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Tran Phu Streets... urban order has also been restored; sidewalks are more open, tidy, and civilized; the situation of goods displayed for sale occupying the sidewalk has been rectified to be more neatly set back to leave a path for tourists.
Mr. Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chairman of Hoi An Ward People's Committee shared that this is the result of many drastic campaigns to restore urban order and ensure tourism business activities go into order. "Ensuring the tourism environment has always been a headache for Hoi An city in the past. Therefore, after the establishment of the new ward, we have determined to rectify and rearrange business activities in the old town.
In addition to dismantling illegal structures, canopies, and tarpaulins, we also require businesses and restaurants to commit to not displaying goods or placing tables and chairs on the sidewalk, returning the walking space to tourists and residents. Of course, there are still a few cases, but in general, the streets are clear, clean, and beautiful, and are supported by the people and tourists," said Mr. Nguyen Tan Cuong.
Not only restoring order in the old town, the arrangement of passenger transport activities by tourist cyclo teams, rowing boats and motorboats on the Hoai River was also quickly implemented, put into order and regularly checked and controlled, avoiding a recurrence of the chaotic situation as before.
Ensuring a safe tourism environment
On July 25, 2025, the People's Committee of Da Nang City issued an official dispatch requesting departments, branches, sectors and localities to strengthen the management of tourism activities, strictly handle the situation of street vendors, disguised beggars, and stalking and soliciting tourists.

In particular, it is requested that the People's Committees of wards, communes and special zones be responsible for directing and inspecting the compliance with regulations on security, order, traffic safety and tourism environment at tourism service establishments, restaurants and tourist attractions. At the same time, organize inspections, provide guidance on improving service quality and strictly handle violations of the law. The Chairmen of the People's Committees of wards, communes and special zones must be responsible to the City People's Committee for ensuring urban order, especially handling acts that affect the tourism environment. This is considered a move demonstrating the city's determination to build a safe, civilized and friendly tourism environment.
At the Bay Mau coconut forest tourist area (Hoi An Dong ward), since the merger, one of the priority tasks of the local government is to review, rearrange, and re-plan service areas, wharves, and tourism. At the same time, coordinate with the ward police to take action to rectify the situation of soliciting and raising prices of basket boats to visit the coconut forest.
Mr. Tran Tan Dung, Chairman of Hoi An Dong Ward People's Committee, affirmed that up to now, the order and tourism environment in the coconut forest area has been rectified; security and safety have been tightened, and environmental sanitation is ensured. Notably, the locality has also planned the area for performing music and basket boat tours far from the coconut forest area, and at the same time requested to turn down the sound so as not to affect the surrounding area.
Mr. Van Ba Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, acknowledged that after more than 3 months of operating the new government model, the tourism environment in some "hot spots" such as Hoi An ancient town or Bay Mau coconut forest has had clear changes. In particular, the issuance of official documents assigning rights and responsibilities to communes and wards has helped the tourism environment in the city become more orderly and safer.
“The synchronous and drastic implementation of solutions such as the establishment of a rapid response team by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism or the Tourist Support Center has helped promptly resolve issues reported by tourists. In particular, the coordination of the police force at some “hot spots” of the tourism environment such as Hoi An ancient town has brought about strong changes, creating peace of mind for tourists,” said Mr. Van Ba Son.
