From 2025 to 2027, the project will be implemented in the communes of Giong Rieng, Hoa Thuan, and Hoa Hung. The project will support 900 low-income households in need of building new toilets, each household will receive a non-refundable capital of 5 million VND; build and upgrade 4 water supply systems of the commune, each system will receive a maximum grant of about 311 million VND and the local government will match 50 million VND..., with a total cost of over 7.1 billion VND.
Activities are implemented such as: Baseline survey on sanitation status, hygiene practices and domestic water connection; communication to raise awareness in the community or appropriate behavior change communication.
Training on household selection criteria and basic skills and knowledge on construction quality supervision; training on toilet construction techniques for households and construction workers; supporting communities and local authorities in developing management mechanisms for maintenance and repair of community water supply works and testing water quality...

The project “Improving clean water and sanitation in An Giang” aims to enhance the capacity to adapt to climate change through sustainable solutions for housing, clean water, and sanitation, contributing to the goal of improving conditions for clean water and rural environmental sanitation; ensuring that poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households have standard toilets and use clean water, contributing with the province to complete the elimination of river toilets.
The project also contributes to implementing criterion No. 17 so that communes can soon complete the criteria for building new rural areas and advanced new rural areas in the next phase.
