Green manufacturing helps businesses expand their markets

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, the index of industrial production (IIP) in the first 9 months of the year increased by 10.5% over the same period. To achieve this impressive figure, many businesses have made efforts to overcome difficulties and expand production and business. In particular, many businesses are strongly shifting to clean production, saving energy, improving productivity and product quality.

Kinh Thanh Stainless Steel Company Limited (Hoa Khanh Ward) recently invested in a smart CNC hydraulic press brake worth nearly 1.4 billion VND. Mr. Ha Kim Khanh, Director of the company, shared: “Immediately after the investment, we received more orders, not only in Da Nang but also from other provinces and cities. The new machine helps increase accuracy, reduce the scrap rate to about 5%, shorten the product completion time to only 1/3 compared to before, and save up to 70% of energy used”.

According to Mr. Khanh, the company continuously invests in new equipment, aiming for the goal of being “smarter, greener, cleaner, more digital”. Replacing old, energy-consuming machinery with modern systems helps businesses both save costs and meet the increasing demands of customers, especially in export orders requiring environmentally friendly products.

The company’s production revenue has increased by more than 20% compared to the same period in 2024 and continues to increase. “The market is demanding high-quality, energy-saving and environmentally friendly products, so investing in green production is a must if we want to survive in the long term,” said Mr. Ha Kim Khanh.

Similarly, Viet Czech Joint Stock Company (Hoa Cam Industrial Park), which specializes in furniture manufacturing, also invested nearly VND2.4 billion in 2024 - 2025 to modernize its production line in a cleaner direction. Notably, the company's newly installed 5-axis CNC lathe worth more than VND1 billion has helped to significantly reduce costs and waste.

Mr. Phan Thanh Minh, Deputy Director of the company, said: “Previously, we had to outsource processing at a cost of about 3 billion VND per year and spent more than 200 workers to process the wood surface. Now, we only need two technicians to operate the CNC machine, the cost is reduced to 1 billion VND, saving up to 2 billion VND/year.”

Not only does this 5-axis CNC lathe reduce costs, it also reduces the amount of wood waste to almost zero. “This lathe provides a shiny surface without the need for reprocessing, saving labor and creating a cleaner, safer working environment. This is a competitive advantage as customers are increasingly interested in green, clean, digital products,” Mr. Minh shared.

Powering green manufacturing businesses

Da Nang City’s Chief Statistician, Tran Van Vu, said that Da Nang’s industrial production in the past 9 months continued to recover strongly after a difficult period. Industries such as textiles, metals, electronics, and computers have maintained traditional orders and expanded to new markets.

The city's GRDP in the first 9 months of 2025 increased by 9.83% over the same period - the highest increase in many years; in which the industrial - construction sector continued to be the main driving force.

According to Mr. Vu, the survey results of Da Nang City Statistics show that 78% of processing and manufacturing enterprises assessed the production situation in the third quarter as more favorable or stable than the previous quarter. In particular, nearly 80% of enterprises are optimistic that the last months of the year will continue to maintain good growth momentum. In parallel with the self-efforts of enterprises, Da Nang City is implementing many practical support policies.

According to Ms. Le Thi Kim Phuong, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, the city's industrial promotion program continues to support machinery and equipment for small and medium-sized industrial production establishments to increase productivity, reduce energy consumption, and promote cleaner production. In the last months of the year, the department will focus on solutions for the industry and trade sector to reach the finish line, contributing to completing the city's growth target of over 10%.

Specifically, the department is coordinating with the City People's Committee to submit a project to establish a silica deep processing industrial center, build a mechanism to encourage production cooperation in clusters in the fields of supporting industry and mechanics; at the same time, speed up the completion of Cam Le Industrial Cluster and other clusters in the area.

These policies are expected to create a solid foundation for Da Nang businesses to promote green production, improve competitiveness and expand domestic and foreign markets.

Green manufacturing is an opportunity for Da Nang businesses to improve their position. As new-generation trade agreements increasingly tighten environmental, energy and emission criteria, businesses that make the transition early will have a big advantage in exports and global supply chains.
