“Being the national valedictorian does not make me stand out from my classmates because they are all very talented. When I entered university, I studied hard so as not to fall behind,” Hoang Huy shared.

Huynh Hoang Huy (24 years old) is a former student of Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted ( Vinh Long province). With the dream of becoming a doctor like his beloved father, after completing high school, Hoang Huy registered his wishes and was admitted to the general medical school.

In the early stages of university, Huy was overwhelmed by the large amount of homework and the way his teachers taught. After taking the exams in biochemistry, genetics, and microbiology with low scores, Huy realized he needed to change his learning methods. Thanks to the innovation in his learning methods, Huy gradually improved his scores.

To achieve good results, Huy maintains a serious learning spirit and searches for documents related to the subject. “During oral exams, I spend a lot of time to study all the knowledge. Study broadly and deeply, understand the problem to answer the questions asked by the teachers,” Huy shared.

During his six years at university, Huy said the period of social distancing due to the Covid-19 pandemic was the most difficult time for him to study. Having to study online and not being able to go to the hospital interrupted his practical learning process.

In addition to his impressive academic achievements, Huy also actively participates in extracurricular and volunteer activities at school. These activities help Huy reduce stress in studying, build new relationships, and practice many necessary soft skills.

In October 2023, Huynh Hoang Huy (24 years old) received an excellent graduation certificate in general medicine with a GPA of 3.69/4.0.

“The support and encouragement from my family, my group of friends who supported each other throughout my time at university, and the relationships around me... have become the foundation that helped me overcome difficulties,” Huy said.

The years of studying at the school helped Huy feel the enthusiasm, commitment and mission in the medical profession through the images of teachers. Currently, Huy is reviewing knowledge to take the entrance exam for the residency program of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City.

Dr. Le Quoc Tuan, lecturer of the Department of Physiology - Immunopathophysiology of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City, academic advisor for the 2017 Y course, commented: “Huy is an excellent and sociable student. Huy does not show off or boast about his achievements, always respects teachers and is close to friends. I have heard many friends at school comment that Huy is a simple, lovable person, always needs to exchange knowledge in studying, even late at night texting questions, Huy still answers thoughtfully. This is a valuable quality, because many good students often suffer from arrogance and are difficult to approach.”

Dr. Quoc Tuan also added that Huy is a person with good self-learning ability. This is the core quality that helps students succeed throughout the learning process. Medical students need the ability to self -discover , self-study in books and self-engage with patients to experience and improve themselves. Huy is a person who has done these things very well, so Huy has excellently achieved today's achievements.
