Grateful for the preschool teachers who took care of me since I was little
Le Trung Nghia, 18 years old, former student of Quang Trung High School, Thai My Commune, Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Cu Chi District). When Nghia was young, his parents had to work hard from morning to night, so most of the time Nghia was sent to kindergarten.
"I heard from my family members that the teachers at the kindergarten took good care of me and treated me like their own child. This feeling has left a deep sense of gratitude in me. That's why, when faced with choosing a career, I was determined to pass the entrance exam to the preschool education department at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education," said Le Trung Nghia.
The male student passed the entrance exam with a score of 26.5. In the talent round, Trung Nghia chose to compete in expressive storytelling and singing. Notably, the person who accompanied and wholeheartedly guided Trung Nghia was the kindergarten teacher who taught Nghia in the nursery class (4-5 years old). She was retired but loved Trung Nghia and wanted her student to perform his best so that he could pursue the job that she had devoted her whole life to.
Currently, every day Trung Nghia goes to Ho Chi Minh City University of Education by bus, he will take 2 stops, taking nearly 2 hours to get from home to the lecture hall. "I am also lucky to have a supportive family. My parents, especially my grandmother, always hope that I can become a teacher. That is the motivation for me to try hard," the male student expressed.

Preschool education is increasingly attracting learners.
Dr. Bui Hong Quan, Head of the Department of Preschool Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, said that this year the number of students registering for the preschool education major has increased significantly compared to last year. The number of candidates taking the aptitude test has increased nearly 4 times (in 2024, there were about 1,000 candidates taking the aptitude test, this year there are nearly 4,000). The quality of input has increased, leading to a higher quality of new students. The benchmark score in 2024 for this major is 24.24, this year it is 26.05.
This attraction can be explained from a policy perspective. The role and position of preschool teachers are gradually being raised. With the impact of the Education Law, the policies for preschool teachers are improved. Upon graduation, if students become teachers at public preschools in Ho Chi Minh City, there will be additional specific policies. Therefore, the starting income of public preschool teachers is 12-13 million VND/month. If students choose to work at non-public facilities, their income can be from 7-15 million VND/month, depending on their capacity and the preschool education facility...

Another good sign is that, according to Dr. Bui Hong Quan, the preschool education industry is increasingly attracting male students. For example, before 2023, the department had almost no male students, but in 2024 and 2025, the department had one student each year.
"We always hope that the faculty will have more male students. Because, obviously, preschool education is not only for female teachers. Male preschool teachers can also do it, and do it very well," said Dr. Quan.
Faith and effort will lead us there.
This afternoon, at the event welcoming new preschool education students, there was also a ceremony to honor the valedictorians and salutatorians and a discussion on the topic "The Power of Belief" with the participation of many guests. That was musician Nguyen Van Chung - author of a series of "hits" such as Continuing the story of peace ; Pain in the midst of peace (soundtrack of the movie Red Rain )... That was Mr. Vo Minh Toai, 1st runner-up of Mr. World Vietnam 2024, runner-up of The Face Vietnam 2023, founder of the English For The Blind project - English for the visually impaired.

The discussion was led by psychologist Dr. Bui Hong Quan. The guests and Dr. Bui Hong Quan all agreed that to be successful during the 4 years of university and many years of work after that, we need faith. But that is not enough. Each young person needs to make constant efforts, prepare themselves thoroughly in terms of knowledge and skills, only then can they reap the sweet fruits...
