After 10 years of persistent research, Dr. Nguyen Phi Hung, lecturer atFPT University, was honored in the top 2% of the world's most influential scientists in 2025, according to an announcement by Stanford University (USA) and Elsevier Publishing House.
This is the first time Dr. Hung has appeared in this prestigious global ranking, which records 236,314 scientists in the top 2% of the nearly 12 million people currently engaged in research worldwide.
Dr. Nguyen Phi Hung is currently a lecturer at the Department of Business Administration and also holds the position of Director of the Center for Applied Science Research, FPT University. He is ranked in the field of Applied Mathematics and Statistics – a fundamental major that requires high precision and rigorous logical thinking.

"This is a recognition of 10 years of dedicated research and also a summary of 6 years of association with FPT University. Scientists do not work for rankings, but international recognition is a great source of encouragement," said Dr. Hung.
Since 2019, he has focused on modern research directions such as multi-criteria decision making (MCDM), fuzzy set theory (Fuzzy Sets), Neutrosophic Sets and data analysis models in management, finance, logistics and sustainable development.
The special point in Dr. Nguyen Phi Hung’s research journey is the companionship with students. He not only guides the graduation thesis but also sees this as an opportunity to create valuable scientific works with students.
Some of the research conducted by students under the guidance of Dr. Nguyen Phi Hung has been published in journals in the Scopus and ISI systems. Notable among them is the work "Analysis of Quantum Computing's Applicability in Data Analysis: Utilizing a Hybrid MCDM Approach With Quantum Spherical Fuzzy Sets", belonging to the SCI-Q1 group.
This work applies the logic of quantum computing combined with Spherical Fuzzy Sets to solve complex problems in business decision making – a new direction in modern management.
Not only a researcher, Dr. Hung is also a member of the Editorial Board of many prestigious international journals, such as: Humanities and Social Sciences Communications (SSCI – Q1, Springer Nature, UK); Scientific Reports (SSCI – Q1, Springer Nature, UK); Discover Analytics (Springer Nature, UK); ICCK Transactions on Advanced Fuzzy Systems (ICCK, USA)
He also actively builds research groups, connects international academics and encourages students to approach research early.
Dr. Nguyen Phi Hung’s achievements, according to him, are partly due to the working environment at FPT University. Here, lecturers are given favorable conditions to pursue research, from international publication mechanisms, creative spaces, to open academic culture.

To young people who want to pursue a research career, Dr. Hung advised: "Scientific research is a long journey, requiring patience and the courage to fail. Start with small steps, learn persistently and do not be afraid to try again from the beginning."
