Young man hospitalized after inhaling 3.8cm long dentures into his bronchus

Doctors performed endoscopic surgery to remove 3.8 cm long dentures from the bronchus of a 22 year old patient in the US.

The incident happened when he suddenly had a seizure. Not only did he convulse, he also coughed violently and wheezed. An ambulance was called and he was taken to the hospital.

The doctor ordered a chest X-ray. The X-ray showed a 3.8 cm long denture stuck in his bronchus. The denture had entered his bronchus during an epileptic seizure. This strange case was published in the medical journal Cureus .

Doctors quickly took the male patient into surgery. They used a bronchoscopy to remove the foreign object. A small, flexible tube was inserted down the throat and into the bronchus to access the dentures. Finally, the doctors successfully removed the dentures.

After the surgery, the patient developed bronchospasm, which causes the bronchial muscles to tighten. Doctors treated him with steroids. He has now been discharged from the hospital, according to the New York Post .
