Before the closing conference of the Ho Chi Minh City Industry and Trade Development Forum, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc had breakfast and listened to businessmen and experts share their concerns about developing the city.

Early in the morning of September 23, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and Mr. Dang Minh Thong - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee - entered the hall of the Rex Saigon Hotel (Saigon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) with warm handshakes with leading experts and businessmen in the field of industry and commerce in the city.

The consultation forum was held promptly.

At the breakfast table, businessmen frankly shared their difficulties and problems as well as proposed bold ideas and solutions to promote the development of the city's industry and commerce.

Not only did they point out difficulties, businesses and experts also offered many dedicated suggestions to develop an international financial center, develop processing industries, high-tech mechanics, logistics, transportation and urban areas... to create an efficient and sustainable production ecosystem.

Sharing with the city leaders, Mr. Bui Ta Hoang Vu - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City - said that after Ho Chi Minh City expanded its space, the Chairman of the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to find a driving force for the development of the industry and trade sector of Ho Chi Minh City when the urban scale expanded.

Immediately after that, the Department of Industry and Trade discussed with experts and Tuoi Tre newspaper to organize a forum and just one week after the merger, organized a discussion on "Ho Chi Minh City's development space - driving force from building supply chains and retail" and then a discussion on "Moving force for industrial development in Ho Chi Minh City - From potential to action".

Following that, the Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with Tuoi Tre newspaper to organize the Ho Chi Minh City Industry and Trade Development Forum, recording hundreds of ideas and suggestions for the city's development from domestic and foreign experts and businesses.

Bringing the new Ho Chi Minh City into the top 100 livable cities in the world

Sitting next to businesses and experts, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee expressed: "I wish to have "flocks of Vietnamese birds" that can stand shoulder to shoulder with "flocks of eagles" in the world, and to help Vietnamese businesses rise up and develop to be on par with friends from all over the world, on par with international partners."

Mr. Duoc said that the forum gathered ideas and experts who are passionate about the city's development, helping Ho Chi Minh City develop quickly and sustainably, and the new Ho Chi Minh City will be a super city, striving to be in the top 100 livable cities in the world.

Immediately after the heartfelt sharing of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, journalist Tran Xuan Toan - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper, along with Mr. Bui Ta Hoang Vu and Mr. Tran Ha Minh Quan - Principal of UEH.ISB Talent School - personally handed Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc a document that collected selected research articles and heartfelt advice.

These are articles of high reference value from domestic and foreign scientists, experts and leaders of many businesses, discussing how to build Ho Chi Minh City into an industrial - commercial - service super city with international competitiveness.

There will be regular breakfast and coffee meetings with city leaders.

After more than 60 minutes of listening to the opinions of businesses and experts, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee expressed his thanks for their enthusiastic sharing as well as directly answering many questions and acknowledging all the proposals of businesses. At the same time, Mr. Duoc hopes to have breakfast with businesses and specialized business associations every month to hear more practical opinions of businesses.

Closing workshop of Ho Chi Minh City Industry and Trade Development Forum

With the theme "Suggestion - Action - International Integration", the closing workshop of the Ho Chi Minh City Industry and Trade Development Forum will take place on the morning of September 23 at Rex Saigon Hotel.

The workshop was organized by the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with Tuoi Tre Newspaper and UEH.ISB Talent School, to summarize the journey of more than two months of implementing the Forum for Suggestions on Developing Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City.

Launched from July 2025 to present, the organizing committee has deployed a series of seminars and talks, gathering more than 150 research papers and dedicated advice from domestic and foreign scientists, experts and leaders of many businesses.

The forum aims to build Ho Chi Minh City into an industrial - commercial - service super city with international competitiveness.

The program attracted more than 200 guests and delegates, including leaders of ministries, associations, scientists, researchers, experts and representatives of businesses in Ho Chi Minh City.
