The 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32) has always been a special sporting event for Southeast Asian countries. Over the years, it has gradually affirmed itself as a prestigious and quality sporting arena, attracting the attention of many fans in the region and the world.

This year, the 32nd SEA Games was held in Cambodia, opening on May 5 and closing on May 17. There were 37 sports with 583 events, including 36 medal events and one demonstration event Teqball. The Vietnamese sports delegation attended the 32nd SEA Games with 1,003 members, including 702 athletes, 189 coaches, 10 experts, competing in 30 of the 36 sports, 487 of the 583 events.

With a proactive spirit, before going, Cao Oanh trained physically for many days, and also participated in training classes on photography skills and reporting at sports events. In addition to cameras and specialized equipment for media work, what Cao Oanh is interested in this time is heat-resistant shirts, to maintain health in the hot weather conditions in the host country.

Reporter Cao Oanh shared: Moving from one point to another is quite far, the only means of transportation is Tuc Tuc bus, however, for Oanh, catching this bus is not always easy, for big events, especially football matches, the road to the stadium is often congested, so Oanh is forced to arrive a few hours early.

“In addition to ensuring the topicality of daily news, we always have to look for unique angles that few people exploit, such as competitions and athletes with special features during the medal-winning process... only then will the news articles be more attractive and increase the number of readers” - Cao Oanh shared.

During the SEA Games, Cao Oanh and her colleagues had many interesting stories for the editorial office, sometimes about side stories, such as beautiful athletes and referees competing, preparations, food preparation, menus, unexpected and unforeseen situations... all issues and aspects that few reporters pay attention to. However, to have such information and images, reporters must be active, creative, and knowledgeable about sports.

All these challenges require reporters to be quick and creative in finding the optimal solution to transmit images and content in a timely manner to the editorial team to carry out according to plan to bring readers the fastest information.

It can be said that for reporters working at the SEA Games, physical strength is still the most important issue. They often carry a bag weighing about 15kg to 20kg, including a camera, laptop, tripod, some filming equipment... all of which are always with them. On hot days in Cambodia, reporters still have to walk 2km, 3km to the stadium area.

However, despite the challenges, from a different perspective for many reporters, this is a joy and an honor to get to know domestic colleagues and foreign reporters. An opportunity to learn how foreign colleagues work, learn more about skills and professionalism in work. And more importantly, receive the warm hospitality of the host country, Cambodia, and the spirit of solidarity among Southeast Asian countries.
