Tan Viet Securities (TVSI) lost 1.9 billion per day in the first half of 2023

Recently, Tan Viet Securities Corporation (TVSI) sent a financial statement to the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX). Notably, the large loss recorded in the periodic financial statement is noteworthy.

Specifically, in the first half of 2023, Tan Viet Securities recorded a loss after tax of up to VND 336.2 billion while in the same period it was still making a profit of VND 275.2 billion. This loss is equivalent to Tan Viet Securities losing up to VND 1.9 billion per day in the first half of 2023.

Equity in the period also only reached 3,346.8 billion VND while the previous period was 3,809.7 billion VND. TVSI's profit margin in the period was -10.05% due to having to record a loss after tax.

Previously, the 2022 audit report of Tan Viet Securities was also given some exceptions by the auditor. At the same time, the after-tax profit of Tan Viet Securities in 2022 also "evaporated" 241 billion VND after the audit.

The reason is that after the audit, the company's management costs increased by VND226 billion due to the need to set aside provisions. In addition, financial asset losses recorded through profit/loss (FVTPL) also increased by VND18 billion.

This has caused Tan Viet Securities' after-tax profit to drop sharply to only VND 148.4 billion in 2022, a decrease of nearly VND 241 billion compared to the company's previous independent financial statements.
