Ms. Tran Thi Hoa, a poor patient from Ca Mau, is being cared for in the post-operative period at Le Van Thinh Hospital.

Ms. Hoa was admitted to the hospital on August 23, 2025, with severe back pain and difficulty walking. The doctor diagnosed: spinal stenosis, spinal degeneration, high blood pressure, type II diabetes, drug-induced kidney failure, osteoporosis. If surgery is not performed promptly, the risk of lower limb paralysis, cardiovascular complications, severe kidney failure is very high, even life-threatening.

Her family is in a particularly difficult situation in Hamlet 8, Tan Loc Commune (Ca Mau): her husband is old and weak, her children are freelance workers, their income is unstable, and they cannot afford medical expenses. The local government has confirmed that her family is in a particularly difficult situation and needs support.

Faced with the serious condition of Mrs. Hoa, doctors at Le Van Thinh Hospital consulted and decided to perform surgery to fix the lumbar spine with screws through the pedicle. This is a complicated technique, requiring high expertise and high cost.

The successful surgery has given Ms. Hoa hope, but the initial cost of about 60 million VND is far beyond the family’s means, even with insurance coverage. She is currently post-operative, requiring treatment, medication, and long-term recovery, which means costs continue to arise.

Appeal from the hospital

MSc. Tran Quang Chau, Head of the Social Work Department at Le Van Thinh Hospital, shared: “We were moved to see that the patient was not only worried about her health but also worried about how to manage the hospital fees. We hope that the community will join hands to help Ms. Hoa feel secure during her treatment.”

With the responsibility of the head of the hospital, Doctor CKII Tran Van Khanh, Director of Le Van Thinh Hospital, sent an appeal: “Each patient has a destiny, and when we can save them, we see it as not only a professional responsibility but also a happiness. The successful surgery for Ms. Hoa is a great effort of the medical team, but for her to overcome difficulties and continue to live a healthy life, we really need the companionship of benefactors, businesses, organizations and kind-hearted individuals. Every sharing is a priceless gift, contributing to maintaining the patient's faith and life.”

In fact, 60 million VND for a surgery and treatment is a huge amount of money for a poor family in a remote rural area like Mrs. Hoa. Any support, whether it is a few hundred thousand VND or a few million VND, is of practical significance in helping her overcome difficulties, have the opportunity to recover her health, and return to normal life.

Le Van Thinh Hospital is currently accepting donations from individuals and organizations through the Social Work Department. The money raised will be used transparently, directly supporting the treatment costs, medicine and rehabilitation of Ms. Hoa.

Please join hands to make Mrs. Tran Thi Hoa's post-surgery journey less arduous, and to let the light of humanity continue to spread in the community.
