Spring Homeland Program 2025 in Cambodia

Attending the event were staff from the Embassy, ​​agencies affiliated to the Embassy, ​​Consulates General, representatives of overseas Vietnamese, businesses, international students and delegates from several localities of Vietnam. On the Cambodian side, Supreme Advisor to the King of Cambodia, Vice President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), President of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association Samdech Men Sam An and Mayor of Phnom Penh Khuong Sreng came to join in the celebration.

Speaking here, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu stated that 2025 is an important year for the country to prepare to enter a new era, an era of growth for the Vietnamese people. On behalf of the Party and State, the Ambassador wished the community and guests good health, happiness and success in the new year.

In the warm atmosphere of the new spring, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu happily informed the community and guests attending the program about the remarkable achievements of Vietnam in recent times.

“We are extremely proud to look back at the results that the country has achieved in the past year with GDP growth of 7.09%, among the top fastest growing countries; economic scale ranked 35th in the world; import-export turnover reaching 786 billion USD; security and defense maintained; Vietnam's prestige and international position increasingly increasing in the international arena.”

The Ambassador also expressed his joy at seeing that Cambodia, under the reign of King Norodom Sihamoni, the leadership of the CPP headed by Samdech Techo Hunsen and the Royal Government of Cambodia headed by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, has achieved great achievements.

The Cambodian people are happy to live in peace and political stability. The Government is successfully implementing the first phase of the Pentagon Strategy. Cambodia's international prestige is increasingly high as it has successfully hosted many important international conferences.

Over the past year, the relationship of “good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability” between Vietnam and Cambodia has been continuously consolidated and enhanced, especially through high-level visits by King Sihamoni and Samdech Techo Hun Sen to Vietnam as well as visits by President To Lam and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Cambodia.

Along with that, economic, trade and investment relations between the two countries continue to grow with trade turnover reaching more than 10 billion USD in 2024. Vietnam is the third largest trading partner and also the third largest foreign investor in Cambodia.

On this occasion, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu expressed his sincere thanks to the State, Government and people of Cambodia for always creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese people to do business, live stably, and contribute to the development of Cambodia.

For his part, CPP Vice President and President of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association Samdech Men Sam An sent his best wishes for the New Year to the Vietnamese people; and warmly congratulated the Vietnamese people on the great achievements in all fields in recent times under the Party's leadership.

According to her, Cambodia and Vietnam are two close neighbors, with a tradition of supporting each other in times of hardship and adversity. After 58 years of establishing diplomatic relations, the two countries have achieved great cooperation results in all fields of politics, defense, economy, society, tourism, trade, culture, science and technology.

“At the recent 46th anniversary of the January 7 Victory, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian People's Party, reaffirmed that he always remembers the contributions of the Vietnamese leaders and people in helping Cambodia build its army and sending volunteer soldiers to help liberate Cambodia from the Pol Pot genocidal regime,” said Samdech Men Sam An.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Embassy awarded certificates of merit to groups and individuals with many achievements in actively contributing to community work, doing well in humanitarian charity work, and contributing to fostering friendship between the people of Vietnam and Cambodia.

In particular, the Embassy presented gifts to meritorious families and 300 gifts to disadvantaged Vietnamese households in all 25 provinces and cities of Cambodia, helping people celebrate the Lunar New Year 2025 more warmly and fully.

The performances about the homeland by overseas students and staff of the Embassy, ​​along with Tet dishes such as banh chung and gio lua, truly brought a warm spring atmosphere to the Vietnamese community and Cambodian friends attending the Spring Homeland 2025 program.
