The project will support training for women in handicrafts from sedge.

The Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency has approved and signed a co-financing agreement No. VIE/039 25 3639 with Maries Company Limited within the framework of Project VIE/039 funded by the Government of Luxembourg to enhance the capacity of women working in sedge handicrafts, contributing to preserving traditional crafts and creating sustainable livelihoods. The project focuses on training basic weaving skills for 30 women, of which 10 women will participate in advanced training sessions to improve their skills; 15 women will participate in advanced training courses to produce sophisticated products with higher value, increase income, and create stable jobs.

In addition to organizing training programs for women to improve their weaving and design skills, the project will develop comprehensive training programs for sales and marketing personnel; support and encourage local farmers to expand the area of ​​sedge cultivation; invest in building standard storage locations, insect and rodent proof, install a system of sorting shelves to manage raw materials effectively; invest in tools and materials necessary for the natural dyeing process to expand the product color palette. These activities will both ensure product quality and promote the introduction of innovative designs, increasing the differentiation and attractiveness of products in the market.

People receive support to build raw material areas

Ms. Ho Thi Suong Lan, Director of Maries Company Limited, shared that for a traditional craft to survive, it requires not only skillful hands but also knowledge, opportunities and trust. Project VIE/039 is an opportunity for women in craft villages to not only learn skills but also gain more spirit and trust in the value of their own work. Each product that people make is not only a handmade product but also a crystallization of traditional culture and pride of the people of Hue .
