Opportunity to observe partial lunar eclipse in Vietnam

The lunar eclipse begins at 02:35 and ends at 03:52 on October 29 (Vietnam time). The maximum time is 03:14.

Vietnamese astronomy lovers will have the opportunity to observe a partial lunar eclipse in the early morning of October 29.

Lunar eclipse is not a rare phenomenon, very easy to observe even without any supporting tools. Lunar eclipse is completely harmless to the eyes, so you can look directly at it. " If you want to observe this phenomenon more clearly, you should prepare a telescope or binoculars ," said Mr. Son.

A partial lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon, but the three celestial bodies do not form a straight line in space. This means that only a portion of the Moon will be in the darkest part of the Earth's shadow, called the umbra. The rest of the Moon is covered by the outer part of the Earth's shadow, called the penumbra.

According to NASA, partial lunar eclipses occur more frequently than total lunar eclipses. The upcoming partial lunar eclipse will be visible to observers across Asia, Europe, and Africa, including Vietnam.

The next time we can observe a lunar eclipse from Vietnam is September 2025, which will be a total lunar eclipse.
