According to Tuoi Tre Online in Hanoi at 10:28 pm on September 7, the penumbral lunar eclipse began, the sky was clear and cloudless, favorable for observation.

According to information from the Vietnam Amateur Astronomy Network (VAAN), at 11 p.m. on September 7, the Moon began to enter the Earth's shadow, but people could not observe it with the naked eye, so we still felt the moon was very bright because the amount of light only decreased very slightly.

At 11:30 p.m., Mr. Luong Ngoc Khanh (in Lao Cai ) said that the weather in Ban Ho commune (old Sa Pa town) was cloudless, so from the mountain, he began to observe a partial lunar eclipse.

At 11:33 p.m., VAAN also reported that the Moon began to be partially "blackened" on the upper left side.

The special thing about this lunar eclipse is that it occurs just 2.6 days before the Moon reaches perigee - meaning the Moon will be larger and darker than usual, creating a super "blood moon" phenomenon - Photo: C. TUỆ
