With the kids, I can… laugh all day.
* After more than 2 years of retirement, Anh Vien has reached out to the community more through programs for children. What led to this change?
- After retiring, at first I was hesitant to appear on social media. But after being encouraged by my friends, I found it good that I use social media to share positive things and inspire people to swim.
I felt it was meaningful so I did it. Every day I get to meet the children learning to swim is a joy and helps me to smile all day. I feel happier and more optimistic about life.
* In today's modern life, how does Anh Vien perceive the role of health in the work and study of the community?
- In my opinion, exercising is very important. Before, exercising every day helped me feel healthy and normal.
But after retiring, I played less sports, instead I spent most of my time studying. When I got home, I just rested, thinking that I would feel better.
However, I felt even more tired at that time. So I went to practice every day again. Daily sports activities help my body regain its agility and comfort. Sports can be tiring but only during the practice, after that the body will be healthy all day long.
So, in today's life, I think health is very important for young people to be able to meet the demands of life.
* What are the advantages and disadvantages of the community swimming and anti-drowning programs for children that Anh Vien is implementing?
- My community swimming programs are very successful because they are supported by many people. The children are also excited to go to school. The only difficulty is that I have not been able to organize many locations for everyone to come to learn.
I have a community swimming class on Sunday morning in District 7, at first there were more than 10 students, after a few sessions they gradually dropped out because their houses were too far away. Partly because they had not yet felt the benefits of swimming.
But many children who were originally afraid of water, after a period of practice, were confident enough to swim the entire 50m pool. That is my happiness.

Making a clip is much harder than a swimming competition!
* Are the swimming and happy living videos on social media clips created by Anh Vien herself or is there a support team?
- I have friends who always accompany and support me behind the scenes. When I want to convey something to everyone, they will be the bridge and support.
For example, when I, a professional athlete, see a movement, it will be very easy. But for ordinary people, it will be different. At that time, they will support me to share with everyone in the most intimate and accessible way.
* Before, Anh Vien used to appear in front of thousands of audiences to swim. But now standing in front of the camera to make swimming clips, film commercials... how does Anh Vien feel?
- I feel nervous because before that I stood in front of many people but only focused on my job which is swimming.
I practiced it every day so I was confident when I swam. Now I had to stand in front of the camera, everyone would observe and look directly at me. The hardest part was talking to the camera.
I am not very fluent in speaking so it was even more difficult. There were many clips that were only a few minutes long but I had to film them all morning. So for me, making a clip was much harder than a swimming competition.
* What is Anh Vien's goal in 2025?
- I am still in graduate school. Besides, my goal is to set up a swimming center and have my own swimming pool.
This center needs to build at least one swimming pool so that I can organize swimming classes for children, as well as free drowning prevention courses for children who do not have the conditions to learn to swim.

What did Anh Vien think when she was offered to join showbiz?
Over the past 2 years, my life has changed a lot, from a professional athlete having to spend all my time swimming and training.
Returning to normal life, I can arrange time for many different things: going to school, teaching swimming, or pursuing my small, fun hobbies like beauty and healthy living.
I feel very happy and joyful now.
I was lucky to be invited to participate in a few commercials.
But I can't enter showbiz because I have no talent other than swimming.
