Not only do children stay up late and study until they are tired during exam preparation time, but many parents are also worried and exhausted.

Review from 3am

Mr. P.D.D. (44 years old, living in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) said his daughter is in 12th grade this year. His daughter has just passed the first round of the competency assessment test, the second semester exam. Now she continues to study for the second competency assessment test because the first time she only got 700 points.

My daughter is always worried about studying so she often stays up late and wakes up early. Before, she would wake up at 4:30 - 5:30 to study, but in recent weeks she has been setting the alarm for 3:00 am to study.

Because the child stayed up late studying the night before, and is still at the age of eating and sleeping, even though he set the alarm clock for 3am to wake up to study, there were many days when he couldn't get up. So the alarm kept ringing loudly, making the whole house "disturbed".

Mr. D. advised his daughter not to set the alarm clock early and not to wake up so early anymore, but his daughter did not agree. She said she still had a lot of homework and had to wake up early. So everything continued as usual. He and his wife were both exhausted and wished that this exam preparation time would pass quickly.

Meanwhile, the family of Ms. NTV (40 years old, living in District 10) is "extreme" in another way. This year, Ms. V's daughter plans to take the entrance exam to the English major class, so she has to take extra classes in math, literature, and English.

For math alone, her child studies 4 sessions a week, English 2 sessions a week, and literature 1 session a week. There are 7 days a week, so her child has to go to extra classes 7 nights. She and her husband take turns taking their child to extra classes.

Usually, her child comes home at 8-9 pm and has dinner, so she always has to think of nutritious and easy-to-eat dishes to cook for her. Ms. V's whole family hopes that this year her daughter will pass the English major exam.

"If my child doesn't take extra classes like that, it will be difficult for him to pass the entrance exam to a specialized class at a specialized school. To pass the exam, he must be good at all three subjects," Ms. V. shared.

According to Ms. V., her family has never been as stressed and busy as these past few days. Because in addition to her older child, she also has a younger child who is in 5th grade this year and is about to move up to 6th grade. Her child is studying for the exam alone, but the whole family is busy and stressed.

As for Ms. NTK (36 years old, living in Binh Thanh district) who has a son in grade 4, she said that every time the semester exam days come, she is exhausted along with her son. She teaches him to study, checks his homework. Every day, the two of them "struggle" with homework until 11 pm.

Go to bed early to stay healthy and avoid stress

Ms. NTL (44 years old, living in Phu Nhuan district) has a child in the first year of university. She said that her child passed the 10th grade exam, graduation exam and university entrance exam easily even though her child's academic performance was only average.

When her child was in 9th grade, he ranked 20th in the class but his 10th grade entrance exam score was the highest in the class, surprising many friends and teachers at school.

Whether her child is in the final year or not, Ms. L. applies the principle of putting her child to bed early. Her child never studies past 10 p.m. She encourages her child to go to bed at 9 p.m.

Since she was little, she has trained her child to go to bed early, so her child has this habit too. According to Ms. L., children are growing up and need to sleep well so that they can learn well the next day at school.

Ms. L. believes that in order for her child to do well in exams, she must have good health and a good spirit. In addition to going to bed early, she also cooks healthy meals for her child.

In addition, the child must be active every day. In the morning and afternoon, the child rides his bike to school, the school is 4km from home. When he comes home, he also swims in the apartment pool.

When Ms. L.'s child chose his/her high school entrance exam, she analyzed the options for him/her and said, "Just try your best, and you can pass any option after the exam. I don't blame you because you've done your best. There are many paths to take in life."

My sister told me that in her class there were many students who were very good at studying, but because of studying too hard, lack of sleep, anxiety... When the exam day was near, some children got sick, some were tired, some entered the exam room with a bad mentality, so the final exam results were not as expected.

As for Ms. L.'s child, he went to the exam in a very relaxed state of mind and good health, so when he entered the exam room, he did very well. The exam result that year, the child passed the entrance exam to a famous specialized school in the city, surprising many people, including Ms. L.
