Regarding the incident of a group of people "begging" at Phan Thiet cemetery ( Binh Thuan province), the police have made a list of 21 suspects of criminal activities and law violations, including many drug addicts.
On March 14, Phu Hai Ward Police, Phan Thiet City, sent a report to the provincial police about the security and order situation at Phan Thiet City cemetery, related to the reflection of a group of people "begging" for money to clean graves.
According to Phu Hai Ward Police, the cemetery area has a large concentration of freelance workers, mainly working for tomb construction facilities, services related to burial, reburial, as well as agreements to receive contracts for grave care.
These workers are not under the management of the cemetery management board, thus forming many small groups and regularly gathering and colluding with each other, among which there are many drug addicts. Every time someone visits the graves, these people arbitrarily clean and then demand payment, ask for offerings and make offensive comments without the consent of the families visiting the graves or when given little money.
Phu Hai Ward Police have made a list of 21 suspects of criminal activities and law violations in the cemetery area, many of whom have been placed under management and sent to compulsory drug rehabilitation facilities.
Previously, on March 9, Nguyen Thanh Trung posted on social media a nearly 2-minute clip with content and images reflecting a group of people "asking" relatives to visit and pay respects at the cemetery in Phan Thiet City, causing outrage.
Afterwards, the Phan Thiet City Party Committee issued an official dispatch requesting the City People's Committee to direct relevant agencies to coordinate with the City Cemetery Management Board to inspect the content of the incident, identify related organizations and individuals, and strictly handle violations (if any).
