On September 4, Ms. Le Thi Bich Lien - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong province - said that the provincial education sector has no policy to stop boarding at schools.
According to Ms. Lien, it is true that some schools texted parents to inform them that they would not organize boarding schools, causing parents to panic. However, this is not an official policy, and the provincial Department of Education and Training has issued a document providing guidance.
Previously, in the chat group of a boarding elementary school in Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan province (old), a message appeared informing parents that after the opening day of September 5, the school would no longer accept boarding students.
The message reads: "Parents, please note that currently there are general regulations so the school only organizes 2 sessions/day (in the morning at 7am, at noon at 10:30am, parents pick up children to go home to eat and sleep. In the afternoon, children come to class at 1:45pm. At 4:30pm, parents pick them up. When the school organizes boarding, I will notify you later)".
This information about stopping boarding schools has made thousands of parents in Lam Dong worried.
According to the reporter's investigation, the announcement of some schools to stop boarding schools comes from confusion when implementing Resolution 21 of Lam Dong Provincial People's Council issued on August 28.
This Resolution abolishes the old regulations of Binh Thuan and Dak Nong and selects Resolution 385 dated December 10, 2024 of the People's Council of Lam Dong province (old) to apply to the new Lam Dong province.
These include regulations on revenue and expenditure, revenue management, and revenue levels that some schools consider inappropriate and unsuitable. Due to concerns about violating regulations, some schools have announced a temporary suspension of boarding.
Ms. Le Thi Bich Lien said that the department has sent a document requesting the People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones to urgently grasp the situation at primary education facilities in the area, and at the same time encourage schools to continue to maintain boarding schools, in order to meet the legitimate needs of students and parents.
"Where there are difficulties or problems, the education sector will work with schools to find solutions. Whether or not to implement boarding schools is not only related to school operations, but also greatly affects the labor force of society and the jobs of parents," Ms. Lien emphasized.
