Announcement of successful development of 5G chip
The Military Industry and Telecommunications Group ( Viettel ) has just announced the successful research of 5G chip and AI virtual assistant at the Vietnam International Innovation Exhibition 2023 (VIIE 2023), taking place in Hanoi from October 28 to November 1.
This is Vietnam's first 5G DFE chip line belonging to the 5G product ecosystem, completely designed by Viettel engineers. According to Viettel's representative, the 5G chip is the most complex component of the 5G ecosystem.
The 5G DFE chip has a computing capacity of 1,000 billion calculations/second and is highly appreciated by prestigious partners such as Synopsys.
Fully mastering chip design processes is an important step for Vietnam to participate more deeply in the global semiconductor industry.
This is the premise for Viettel to be able to produce chips serving many fields such as AI, 6G, IoT... in the future.
Also at this exhibition, Viettel demonstrated two typical products in its AI ecosystem, including a legal virtual assistant and an automated customer care support solution.
67 government agency websites had gambling advertisements inserted
In the September 2023 technical report, the National Cyber Security Monitoring Center - NCSC under the Department of Information Security, Ministry of Information and Communications , said that it continued to record 28 units, including 18 provinces and cities and 10 ministries and branches, whose websites were still being exploited to upload a large number of files with malicious content.
Specifically, 10 ministries and branches whose websites are still being exploited to insert inappropriate advertising content include the ministries of: Industry and Trade, Education and Training, Transport, Science and Technology, Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Home Affairs, Agriculture and Rural Development, Health, Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Supreme People's Procuracy .
Provinces and cities including Ha Tinh, Tuyen Quang, Da Nang, Dien Bien, Dong Nai, Hanoi, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, Kon Tum, Lai Chau, Phu Tho, Quang Binh, Quang Nam, Quang Ninh, Quang Tri, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa are localities where government agency websites are being exploited by bad actors to post inappropriate advertising content.
What is more worrying is that in the list of 67 .gov.vn domain name websites under the management of 28 ministries, branches and localities that were found to still have inappropriate advertising content, many of the websites were mentioned by the Department of Information Security in the warning list in August 2023.
Through that, it can be seen that, although the authorities have warned, there are still agencies and units that have not paid due attention to reviewing and implementing measures to prevent and handle the situation of government agency websites being installed with malicious content.
Inauguration of the Hoa Lac National Innovation Center
The inauguration ceremony of the new facility of the National Innovation Center (NIC) and the Vietnam International Innovation Exhibition 2023 (VIIE 2023) at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, Hanoi, took place on the morning of October 28.
The event, chaired by the Ministry of Planning and Investment and organized by NIC in coordination with prestigious partners, marked an important milestone in the process of building Vietnam's innovation ecosystem.
The inauguration of the NIC facility will create a new innovation space for our country; clearly demonstrating the spirit of daring to think, daring to do, daring to innovate for development, becoming a model to promote innovation for the country. Along with the inauguration of the NIC Hoa Lac facility, the Ministry of Planning and Investment also organized the Vietnam International Innovation Exhibition 2023, from October 28 to November 1, with the aim of creating a space for exchanging and sharing leading innovative ideas and products.

The Ministry of Information and Communications and network operators use identifiers to prevent impersonation calls.
To prevent fraud through impersonation calls, the leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications have directed the Telecommunications Department to deploy the issuance of Voice brandnames for hotline phone numbers of units under the Ministry of Information and Communications; at the same time, the issuance of voice brandnames for mobile and fixed-line telecommunications networks such as VNPT, Viettel, MobiFone, FPT, etc.
This solution is also expected to help people raise their vigilance against the methods and tricks that criminals often use to commit fraud.
The Ministry of Information and Communications said that from October 27, 2023, all phone numbers calling people from units under the Ministry, including the Ministry Office, the Press Department, the Information Security Department, the Telecommunications Department, and the Radio Frequency Department, will display the identifier "BO TTTT".
Also from October 27, the phone numbers of telecommunications enterprises when calling customers using the service also display the network's identifier name. For example, the identifier name VNPT, VinaPhone of VinaPhone network, VIETTELCSKH of Viettel network, FPT SHOP of FPT network, or LOCAL of ASIM network)...
Opening of VNPT IDC Hoa Lac Data Center
On October 25, VNPT opened the Data Center (IDC) at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park. IDC Hoa Lac has a total usable area of up to 23,000 m2, with a scale of up to 2,000 racks - the largest in Vietnam today. IDC Hoa Lac has achieved Uptime Tier III certification for design, construction and installation and will soon be certified for operation.
This data center is capable of providing the most advanced data services in Vietnam, ready to meet the "tailor-made" requirements of all domestic and international customer segments.
In particular, the Hoa Lac IDC center has the ability to connect to super-fast networks, averaging 2Gbps/rack for domestic connections and 0.5Gbps/rack for international connections, thanks to the advantage of being the leading telecommunications network operator in Vietnam of VNPT.
