Cuba's Foreign Ministry (MINREX) said it has decided to join as a third state in South Africa's lawsuit against Israel before the ICJ.

Cuba pledged to “support and contribute as much as possible to legitimate international efforts to end the genocide against the Palestinian people.”

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla stressed that Havana “will exercise its right to present, as a third country, its interpretation of the rules of the Convention, which Israel has flagrantly violated through its actions in the illegally occupied Palestinian territory of the Gaza Strip.”

Cuba, a traditional ally of Palestine, has strongly condemned Israel's attack on Gaza from the very beginning and publicly accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government of genocide.

Along with Cuba, Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Nicaragua and Libya have also joined the South African-led legal efforts. Several other countries have also expressed interest in supporting the initiative.
