An Indian tourist drowned in about 2 minutes while swimming at Da Nang beach, causing dangerous complications.

On August 6, information from Danang Hospital said that after 3 days of intensive treatment at the hospital due to drowning while swimming in the sea, Indian male tourist KA (21 years old) was discharged from the hospital.

According to the patient’s family, on the morning of August 1, while swimming in the sea, Mr. A. suddenly drowned for about 2 minutes. Although he was discovered and rescued in time, the Indian tourist then began to have difficulty breathing and vomiting.

The victim was brought to the Emergency Department of Danang Hospital by his family in a state of drowsiness, difficulty breathing, pale purple skin and mucous membranes, SpO2 65%. Doctors diagnosed the patient with complications of acute pulmonary edema, grade IV respiratory failure, and severe progression.

Immediately afterwards, the patient was given intensive resuscitation, intubation, mechanical ventilation, treatment of electrolyte disturbances, and antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs.

After 1 day of intensive treatment, the patient stopped using the ventilator, breathed on his own, was alert and discharged home after 3 days of treatment.

Through the drowning case of the Indian male tourist, hospital doctors recommend that, to avoid unfortunate drowning accidents that may occur, tourists need to choose a safe bathing area, warm up thoroughly before going into the water, not bathe alone, children need to be accompanied by an adult... In particular, it is necessary to go immediately to a medical facility to have an accurate assessment of health status if they accidentally drown.
