Former striker Trinh Quang Vinh unexpectedly returns to the field

The appearance of Trinh Quang Vinh - a once famous striker of Vietnamese football, at the 2025 Vietnam Civil Servants Football Tournament - has brought an exciting new breeze.

On the morning of October 4, the 2025 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament, Northern region qualifying round, took place with great excitement at Hanoi University of Science and Technology Stadium.

In its third year, the tournament also gathered special individuals who have played for many years for professional football clubs in Vietnam.

Notable was former striker Trinh Quang Vinh. As soon as he returned to the field, he immediately scored a double for the People's Public Security Union team in the group stage.

Unexpected opportunity

Having been focusing on training the U18 youth team at the PVF Youth Football Training Center, Trinh Quang Vinh's presence in the competition list is a big surprise.

Sharing the reason for participating, he said that this was quite a coincidence. Initially, his name was not on the registration list. However, due to a case in the team not being qualified to compete, he was "added" at the last minute.

"This is the first time I have participated in a tournament like this, I received an introduction from the corporation. When I had the opportunity, I felt very happy and honored," the player born in 1987 shared. This participation gave him the opportunity to relive the atmosphere of top competition, even if it was just in a grassroots playground.

From professional football to workers' joy

Trinh Quang Vinh said goodbye to the professional football field at the end of 2021. Fans always remember him - a sharp striker with an impressive collection of titles.

He won the national championship with The Cong, won the Super Cup with Thanh Hoa, and had a golden period with Binh Duong when he won all the titles of the National Championship, National Cup and Super Cup.

After hanging up his boots, he switched to coaching and also achieved initial success with the 2023 National U15 Championship with PVF.

Sharing about the Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament, he said that this is a meaningful playground, helping workers have the opportunity to maintain and express their passion after stressful working hours.

"It feels like being reborn"

The most wonderful thing for Trinh Quang Vinh is probably the feeling of playing and scoring. Right in the first match, he contributed 2 goals for the home team. When asked about his feelings when scoring, he could not hide his excitement: "Every time I score in this tournament, the feeling is very special. It makes me live again, revived, finding myself again in my youth. The passion rises strongly again."

For him, participating in the tournament is not about the achievement. Instead, it is an opportunity to have fun, exchange and most importantly, to never let the flame of passion go out. He has participated in famous grassroots tournaments before, and this return continues to affirm his intense love for football.

The 2025 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament is jointly organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper , Vietnam General Confederation of Labor , and Vietnam Football Federation. This is the third consecutive year the tournament has taken place.
