Da Nang City Market Management Force checks the origin of moon cakes
Da Nang: Diverse designs, enhanced food safety inspection
In Da Nang City, many mooncake shops of major brands are located along central streets such as Le Duan, Phan Chau Trinh, Nguyen Huu Tho... This year, brands focus on innovating designs, investing in luxurious packaging, and modern designs to serve the gift-giving needs. Prices range from 59,000 - 75,000 VND/piece for traditional cakes, to several million VND/box for high-end products.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, a mooncake distributor in Hai Chau Ward, said that this year, brands have launched many new designs with beautiful, luxurious packaging to meet the gift-giving needs, thereby attracting customers right from the beginning of the season. However, purchasing power is still quite reserved, lower than the same period every year.
"Customers are increasingly cautious, prioritizing branded products with clear origins and food safety information. Many people accept higher prices but are assured of quality. This puts pressure on distributors to carefully select inputs, and is also a driving force for the market to become more transparent, moving towards authentic products, ensuring consumer health," Ms. Lan shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Hong, Captain of Food Safety Management Team No. 1, said that every year during the Mid-Autumn Festival, consumption demand increases, so inspection work is deployed synchronously, in coordination with the Environmental Police, Market Management (QLTT) and local authorities. The inspection teams focus on comprehensively reviewing everything from the origin of raw materials, quality records to production and business conditions. At the same time, the authorities also propagate to make people vigilant against smuggled cakes and goods of unknown origin, especially on the internet.
At the same time, the City Food Safety Management Board coordinated with the Market Management Department and localities to carry out a peak period of market control during the Mid-Autumn Festival. The main content is to prevent counterfeit goods, smuggled goods, trade fraud and check high-demand products such as confectionery, beer, wine, and soft drinks. Traditional craft villages or establishments with signs of violations are also under surveillance.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Son, Head of the City Market Management Department, said that in addition to checking the production and circulation stages, the authorities also focus on controlling price posting, strictly handling the situation of selling at wrong prices, and eliminating expired and poor quality products. Along with that, propaganda work is strengthened to raise awareness of law compliance of business organizations and individuals, contributing to building a safe and healthy moon cake market.
