In particular, Ho Chi Minh City National University agreed on the policy of innovating the regular university admission work in 2025 in the direction of integrating admission and selection methods combining many criteria to implement 3 methods: direct admission, admission based on the results of the capacity assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University, admission based on high school exam results.
Associate Professor Dr. Vu Hai Quan, director of Ho Chi Minh City National University, said that the university encourages units in the system to develop admission methods that combine many criteria according to a comprehensive approach to learners.
Along with that is adjusting the structure of the competency assessment test to match the 2018 general education program and innovations in the high school graduation exam from 2025.
"Ho Chi Minh City National University does not want to change the competency assessment exam because the exam has been stable since 2017, but it cannot do otherwise.
We encourage schools to rely on the test scores to assess their abilities, and to add high school exam scores. For example, if they want, they can add physics, chemistry, and biology scores to their admission criteria to ensure that candidates have both general abilities and specific abilities," said Mr. Quan.
In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City National University will develop a program to foster excellent students, a program to train talents in basic sciences , and promote scientific research.
Accordingly, this university will proactively select and nurture students with excellent abilities and passion, contributing to the excellent student team through academic competitions and summer schools.
At the same time, implement the project to train excellent students at Gifted High Schools, increase investment in documents, lecturers, and modern equipment to serve the development of talents from high school level.
Design and operate talent training programs to promote creativity and discovery of new knowledge based on self-study activities, research activities, practical experiences, forms of student-lecturer, student-scholar, student-enterprise interactions; support and sponsor talented students in research, scientific publication, start-ups and innovation; expand the fields participating in talent training with expected results reaching 5% of the total regular training target of the entire Ho Chi Minh City National University.
