Speaking at the opening of the Congress, Father Duong Phu Oanh, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee, President of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee of Hanoi City, said that the Congress has the task of discussing and summarizing the evaluation of 5 years of implementing the patriotic emulation movement in the period of 2020-2025, drawing out causes and lessons; at the same time, proposing directions, tasks and launching the patriotic emulation movement for the period of 2025-2030.

Presenting a report at the Congress, Vice President of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee of Hanoi City Do Thi Thai said that in the period of 2020-2025, the activities of the Committee and the emulation movement to build "Advanced Parishes and Parishes" have brought about practical and meaningful results in politics , economy, culture and society.

During the period of 2020-2025, Catholics in the capital actively responded to and participated in campaigns such as: Supporting the Fund "For Vietnam's Sea and Islands", Fund "Day for the Poor", Fund "Repaying Gratitude"... launched by the State and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels with a total amount of nearly 20 billion VND. At the same time, people donated and supported more than 52 billion VND for humanitarian and charitable activities; tens of thousands of gifts and scholarships were sent to poor students who overcome difficulties, single people, people with disabilities...

To effectively implement the patriotic emulation movement, building "Advanced Parishes" for the 7th time, period 2025-2030, Catholics in the capital deploy 3 key groups of tasks. In particular, promote propaganda and mobilize Catholics to compete in "Living a good life - living a good religion" and actively participate in the emulation movement to build "Advanced Parishes".

In particular, the Catholic Church of the Capital strengthens propaganda and dissemination on mass media about good models, practices, and typical advanced examples in implementing patriotic emulation movements, emulation to build "Advanced Parishes and Parishes" to exchange and learn experiences...

After the delegates discussed and spoke at the Congress, Father Nguyen Van Rien, Vice President - General Secretary of the Central Committee of Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics, basically agreed with and highly appreciated the content of the report presented at the Congress.

Through this, it can be seen that Catholics in the capital always actively participate in patriotic emulation movements, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of Catholics. Thanks to that, parishes and parishes are increasingly spacious and clean; Catholics are excited to keep their faith and fulfill their civic duties.

On behalf of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics, Father Nguyen Van Rien called on Catholics in the capital to further promote the tradition of patriotism, unite to overcome all difficulties, and continue to effectively carry out the emulation movement "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas, and live a good life and a good religion". That is also to demonstrate "A good Catholic is a good citizen" and is a way to express the religious life of Vietnamese Catholics in general and Catholics in the capital in particular in the coming period.

Speaking at the Congress, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City Nguyen Thi Kim Dung said that Hanoi is one of the localities with a large number of Catholics living there, with 225,978 believers, accounting for 2.67% of the city's population.

In particular, Catholic compatriots in the capital always actively participate in patriotic emulation movements "Living a good life, good religion", especially participating in major campaigns such as "All people unite to build new countryside, civilized urban areas", "Day for the poor" launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

The Catholic people of the capital always demonstrate their pioneering and exemplary character, creating a ripple effect to parishes, religious communities, and residential areas, contributing significantly to emulation movements, following the direction of the General Letter of the Vietnam Bishops' Council: "Living the Gospel in the heart of the nation to serve the happiness of compatriots".

Regarding the upcoming tasks, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Dung suggested that the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee of Hanoi city focus on 4 key tasks. Among them, widely propagandizing for Catholics to well implement the Party's policies and the State's laws; promoting the emulation movement "Building advanced parishes and parishes, living a good life and good religion", the movement "Every Catholic in the capital is a good citizen".

Along with that, the Catholic Solidarity Committee further promotes its responsibility in participating in firmly building the great national unity bloc, mobilizing Catholic compatriots to actively respond and participate in the common movements of the city, such as: Developing production, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, repaying gratitude, supporting compatriots in disaster-stricken areas, building a new cultural lifestyle, building true faith and living the religion according to the spirit of the gospel...

At the Congress, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City awarded Certificates of Merit to 10 individuals with outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement of Catholics in the capital for the period 2020-2025. The Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee of Hanoi City awarded Certificates of Merit to 15 collectives and 50 individuals with outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement of Catholics in the capital for the period 2020-2025.

At the Congress, Father Duong Phu Oanh launched the patriotic emulation movement associated with the emulation movement to build "Advanced Parishes" among the Catholic people of the Capital for the 7th time, period 2025-2030. The Congress also consulted to introduce 15 delegates who are outstanding individuals in various fields to attend the National Emulation Congress.
